How did you meet your better half?, was it love at first sight, or a gradual thing

It definately wasnt love at first sight for me and my husband:wah: i was out with friends when he and his mates tried chatting us up, my husband was after my best friend at the time, i didnt think much of him or his mates and was very rude to him:sneaky: nothing came of it. a few days later we bumped in to each other again in a pub, this time we had quite a nice chat and i thought, oh hes not too bad really, still we said goodbye and went on our seperate ways. About a week later i was hurrying to catch up with my friends after stopping to talk to someone when he suddenly comes up behind me and says hi again,, come on, come for a drink with me. How he recognised me i'll never know as since i saw him last i had been to the hairdressers and had the hairstyle from hell:wah::wah: Anyway we went for a drink, he took me home, came in and met my parents and had a coffee, while he was sitting talking i was looking at him thinking, i never noticed how lovely his eyes were:o he was in the RAF and off back to Germany the next day, but letters and phone calls ensued along with visits when he got leave, and 15 months from when we first met we were married:D

IT will be our 28th wedding Anniversary next April:-4

I believe real love takes time. Interest though, can be sudden and may last long enough to become love.

yes,, i think more often than not,, love at first sight is really lust at first sight:sneaky: some people are lucky that it turns in to love:)

No, but it was warm and fuzzy at first site. Not been with him for long, but he's growing on me. With my ex it was, ''Woosh'', at first site, it was not meant to be. So I've learned woosh isn't always the best, but, ''Hello let's see'', often turns out to be alright.

For me, I couldn't fall in love at first night..... I'm not so shallow that looks alone would make me have such strong feelings for someone.... I believe in 'Lust' at first sight for sure... but 'Love'..... nahhhhhh.... there's so much more to loving a person than the vision you see before you.....

Exactly Milly:D Yes i can drool over Johnny Depp ,, but to be honest looks dont really matter to me more than what the person is actually like. Quite a few times in my youth with a couple of guys i went out with, mates used to say,, why you going out with him!!! ( not a looker:rolleyes:) I used to say ,, cos i like him, silly:wah:

we went to high school together although in different grades we rode the same school bus! i remember spotting him in the crowd of kids, so there was some attraction at first sight for sure, sometimes i do think it was love, but what do i know i was a 16 year old kid who had never dated before! :wah:

We met in high school, I was 14 he was 16...been together ever since. We are best friends and soul mates, most folks find it hard to believe but to this day we have never had a major fight. I guess since we literally have "grown up" together we have been through it all.

We still love to have fun together like silly kids, in the winter we go outside and have snowball fights, play chicken in the pool or at the beach in the summer, jump in the leaves in the fall; silly stuff like that. Who says just because you get older you have to give up part of your childhood.

Life's too short to stress the small things.

Lust at first sight, took me a while to act on it but i did surely love it.

It was definately lust at first site. Hubs was working in my parent's basement and I only saw him from behind (nice a$$) and said "Hi". Met him a few weeks later at a bar and we hit if off. I was on the rebound and the ex was there. Wasn't pleased when I left with hubs.:wah: Oh, well we've been together 23 yrs this coming January.:-4

It turned to love about 2 months later. We just had a lot of fun together. We call each other everyday about 2 times. Sometimes I forget and he says "Ducky, you forgot to call me today":-4 and I say's "whoops, just too busy babe". When he calls it's just to say Hi & luv ya.:-4

it was gradual because we worked together for about 4 or 5 months before we started dating but then we made up for lost time. :wah: We moved in together a few months after that and got engaged a few months later. We've been together almost 15 years now. :-6

Hubs moved out of his parents house and into a house with some buds. I practically lived there on the weekends. His dad knew we were gonna last as he always spied my car in front of hubs house when hubs was late for work:wah: And then 3 yrs into the relationship we had our first baby..a girl and moved in together. #2 girl came 4 yrs later and we finally tied the knot on baby boy #3. We put up with alot of ups & downs into our relationship and I'm glad we waited to tie the knot. We are the best things that happened to each other.

Well it was like this, my sister's husband had a cousin that I once saw at a party. We saw each other, but never got a chance to talk, it was a big house, and many people partying. Anyway, about "5" years later, my sister got this bright idea, & decided to have a diner party & she just invited her husband's cousin & myself! So this time, it was only diner for "4"! Well, it was love at second sight for me, but not so much for her! She "liked" me, just not love at second sight! Anyway, we did start dating, and eventually became exclusive to one another. After six months I bought a ring, (by this time I knew she was the only woman for me & that I wanted her for my wife) but to my dismay she did not accept it! She said she needed more time, & was I really really sure. She wanted me to take my time, & didn't want me to rush into anything! Well, I waited another very long "whole month"! And I asked her again, this time she happily said yes! She said she really was sure, but just wanted me to really be sure! So the second time she knew I was sure!!!

That was "33" years ago this past June, and we still deeply love each other!!! (Thanks Sis!)

After i've explained this womans ridiculas idea (and this man knew her well so he understood my predicament. ) We chatted for awhile. ..............Meanwhile she's getting all huffy because the evening and phone call is not turning out how she wished it.

so i keep chatting and he insists that we meet and I tell him "Yeah mate like I want another copper like a hole in the head."..................................................................................................................................................................................so we meet.

Have a drink, kiss on the first date and the rest is history.:wah:

what's interesting is he really didn't want to talk to me on the phone because he thought i was a friend of hers ...................and he didn't want to know any friends of hers and i thought he was a friend of hers and I didn't want to meet any friends of hers. Once we'd established that neither of us were friends with her we got on like a house on fire .

I agree with alot of the previous posters. I don't believe in "love at first sight", lust, yes, but not love. "Lust at first sight" can get you in trouble. :wah:

When I first became aware of my present hubby, I was still married to someone else and unhappy. He would say hello to me, I would say hello and go back to reading my book. That was it. This took place in the cafeteria at work. Time went by. I became a divorcee and vowed not to get involved with anybody again. I saw myself getting old and being alone. That was my future, and I was becoming resolved to it. My present hubby was still friendly to me, found out that I was now single and asked me for my phone number. He seemed like a nice guy, down to earth, so I gave him my number. I got to know him and found we had a lot in common. He was also serious about me and wanted us to be together always. I became aware that I love this guy, his voice, his eyes, his laugh, his smile, his touch.....and this was a pleasant surprise. So a change in my life plan occurred......I did find someone to share the rest of my life with. We have been together over 10 years now. My, time has gone so fast.

Ain't love grand!:)
