I know stupid topic!

I have these horrid bugs at night........they are nocturnal.......they only come out at night:-5

they are the bugs will a thousand legs and they freak me out!

at least every night when I get up and its dark, they are there, maybe 5 per week and some are bloody gigantic!

And they run as fast as lightning!

Does anyone know how to get rid of these? I need something safe for animals as we have cats.

It is just an extra strong fly spray that is only supposed to be used on cupboards etc & not sprayed in the air.

This stuff will work on any pest

so spray it in all of the cupboards, is it safe for dishes and whatever else is in there? foods, etc.

It sounds like this bug likes moisture/cool area's..

There are Professional Spray Co.'s - perhaps they could answer your questions with a call - no obligations. Especially what's safe for animals & humans..Everythings so toxic - be careful.

Look it up on the internet for Centipedes?

Here at night we have Ghecko's, white lizards, translucent like, and they like moisture/cool..

I enjoy watching them, and they're good to have around - they have a internal instinct to go towards water if on the ground - like around my Pool..

No just spray it at the bottom of your doors & see what happens.

I would just stick to the doors for the time being.

We don't see them much here in Britain but OMG, i hate them. I'd never kill them but i'd have a real hard job picking those up and throwing them out the window.

We've got stinkbugs. Don't bother to kill them as they will be stinky:wah:

They are coming in from somewhere, find the entry points and plug them up. Might be behind a sink, door, pipes doesn't take much space for critters to wiggle into.

Just think it could be rats!:eek:

Heres what I found on google for you:

Centipedes eat mold and live in damp dark places. Removing their "habitat" is the first step toward eliminating them. Get a dehumidifier and use bleach to kill mold and mildew

Try sprinkling powered borax around the perimeter of the basement floorboards. Borax works well at eliminating roaches and fleas as well as most other bugs. Just sprinkle the borax along the wall baseboards, in cupboards, or wherever bugs are a problem. You can find powdered borax in the laundry detergent area of any well-stocked store.

Sprinkle 20 mule team Borax (laundry aisle at store) around the edges of the rooms, it deters them from coming in the room

Keep your house dry. Centipedes dry out and die if they don’t stay in a moist environment, so if you clean up damp closets and basements, and use dehumidifiers, centipedes will find a more hospitable place to live

Use sticky traps. Put them in corners along the floorboards, where centipedes often hunt, and the traps will capture not only centipedes, but house insects as well. This will help you determine which other pests you need to eliminate, to deprive the centipedes of prey.

Close off entrance points. Keep centipedes from entering your house in the first place by sealing cracks in the foundation and concrete walls, eliminating spaces around doors and windows, and covering basement floor drains with window screen.

I don't the Borax trick and it really works.

What do you use the Borax for Carla?

Ants, Roaches, fleas and even Crickets they won't mess with Borax for some reason. I have put it around the walls of my kitchen cabinets, base boards. Mind you I don't have pets. I had a Landlord tell me about Borax about 15 years ago tried it and it worked.

Yuck, I hate roaches. We have a guy come out every 3 months to spray so I haven't been bothered with any of those things. As for mice, they come in the fall and think they can move right on it. Wrong! Have plugged all the holes in foundation, etc. so no mice.

This is really the first step to stopping any critter from getting in.

thanks CP, but our basement is warm and not moist and most solvents that have been discussed here are not safe for my 4 cats!

even the sticky traps, not safe.

I don't believe there are many of those, if any... I've seen some about a foot long (the African giant variety that are sometimes kept as pets)... even those probably had no more than four or five hundred legs.

There was a show on last night, about this centipede that bit the kid when he was feeding it. It gave me the shivers. :-3

hmmmm not sure, they have a thousand legs and look soft like a caterpillar....



even when I had googled what they looked like for I wanted to post the demon here............could not tell the difference.

I believe that the main difference between the two classes is that centipedes (100 legs) only have one leg per segment whereas millipedes (thousand legs) have a pair of legs per segment. The centipedes move much faster, too...

the one I found the other night and freaked was 2 inches long, oh god, where is hubby when you need him!:-5

we have although come to release that as cowpatty said, they love moist places and our furnance room is moist.....we have a de-humidifier and will place it there.......in hopes............

the 4 cats just love them.........those bugs run around so fast, its like they place hide and seek!

I need a bigger fly swater!:-1

so afraid..............so very afraid.......now if I went to bed and stayed here...........I would never seen them and I know they don't run over me while sleeping.
