I am planning to bring in new equipment to replace all of our servers and critical ops machines (some almost 8 years old:eek:). My game plan is to split everything between the new equipment and whatever isn't being hosted on one of the piecesis getting mirrored on it. Theoretically, if a piece of equipment goes down, the come-up time for lost servers on the backup equipment is supposed to be from 5 to 15 seconds..



Of course, if this works right, they won't need me anymore ....:-2

I accidentally went through a wrong door and sat in on an "overview of virualization"... took me 15 minutes to give up trying to figure out what the hell this had to do with 2008 server. It had nothing to do with it... but I was hooked..

It's a wonderful route to take. You'll be just as needed when it's in place, you'll just have a more flexible and robust network.
