It is often said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but is it really?

What do you think?

If they are imitating something good, I think that is cool. If they go around eating candy all day long like me, well, that's not a good thing.

Depending on what type of imitation,

it could be mockery or just plain laziness

on the part of the imitator to think for themselves.

-Imitation in flattering someone, we have all done, personally I would never say anything to anyone to hurt them.

so what if its fake, why not make someone's day brighter?

-not everyone is beautiful or handsome physically in their looks, its just nice to hear a compliment from time to time....we all need that.

and when I say something, it is sincerely said and meant.

If the imitation is meant in a good way that is good in spirit, then yes.

If the imitation is meant to cause you embarrassment, then no.

Agreed....

I used to live over the road from a lady who over a period of months began to look like my identical twin! :-2

Try as she might though, she could never be anything more than a cheap copy ...:wah:

I would have said yes until I found someone rifling through my trash recently. When I confronted him he told me he was collecting DNA samples and had plans to clone me.

At first I thought "hey...another Nomad...kool" them after thinking about it I started feeling like maybe thats not such a good idea.

I felt better after playing Kill The Clones on my X Box though.

You're lucky it was just a neighbor, my mother used to do this to me. I'd find a gorgeous coat and the next thing I knew, she bought the same one. On family outings we looked like we purchased our clothes at a two for one sale. :-5

I guess it is a form of flattery but I don't really like when people copy me. I like doing my own thing so it's weird to see someone else doing what I'm doing. :-3

I do what I do, better than anyone else possibly could, so generally when somebody imitates or impersonates me it's a pale comparison to the real thing. So it never seems to be flattering in the least. I will admit that Koan does some really good impressions of me from time to time, though. :wah: She really knows me, though. Not many folks truly know me that well.
