That's when my mom does it..
We have so many lights that go all over our house.. the roof.. the trees and bushes.. I don't want them only up for 2 weeks. It's a pain in the ass to put them up.. lol We have sooo many lights on our house @ least 3000 or more. Plus all the yard decorations, the tree & everything that goes into the house.

Leave it up until Jan. 6th for Epiphany, so you can enjoy it longer.

Ours is pretty well started. Still more to do outside. When our children were small, I decorated the whole inside of the house. I haven't done much other than a tree and a few things the last few years since the kids got older, but I may this year for the grandkids.

We are decorating tomorrow. I also decorate my inside windows with ribbon running down each side. Makes it feel really Christmasy.
BF, you get fined? Wow! We don't but I do toss my tree in the backyard for the animals to make nests in, etc.:wah:

We leave them up till the 6th also. But if that day falls on the weekday, I'll take them down myself. Can't have the kids helping with that as things get outta hand.

My home is still decorated for autumn........'cause it still is.
Actually, 4 weeks before Christmas is the Advent season. The Christmas season starts on Christmas day and lasts through the Epiphany in January.

NO!
When I was younger, & we had small kids I used to start decorating the outside of our house at the beginning of October, right through till about December 6 or 7th, and then turned them all on! I used to put up around 1000+ lights all around the house, colored spot lights on the trees, & bushes, 4 ft high lighted santa, 4 ft high lighted snowmen (3), 4 ft high lighted raindeer (4), 6 ft high lighted candy canes (2) one on either side of front door, people would drive down our street with a car full of kids and stop, some even took pix! One year our house made the front page of the local newspaper with a colored pix displayed. After that, there was always a parade of cars passing our house, even causing the police to have to come to move them along as they were causing traffic jams.
It was great, but the downside was a giagantic electric bill for the month of December, & half of January!!!
Now, for the past 4 years (since I retired) we head South for the winter, & so I decorate our villa there, but in no way near the way I used to decorate for Christmas!!! (Our kids are all grown! So . . )
