Nine schoolboys some as young as 13 and 14 years old were today jailed for their horrifying violent gang rape of a 14 year old girl.

This story would horrify any one but i found something far more disturbing than the rape it'self.

In a report by The Telegraph a few days ago, Police officers said they were astonished at the parent's of the boy rapists. They had no regard what-so-ever for the girl named 'Jenny'. If anything, they were annoyed that 'Jenny' had got all the boys on the estate into so much trouble with the police.

One mother was quoted as saying to police, 'my son didn't touch jenny...He never even got a blow job'.

Am i alone in thinking the parents should be in prison?

I don't think we can jail people for their attitudes, but it certainly gives some idea of the lack of values these boys were raised with.

How can children learn values, when childrens' role models are instilling negative ones. From parents to sports figures to politicians, we have a greatly lowered moral code existing in the world today.

They say you can only change yourself. They say you never know what impact your actions may have on another individual. I believe this. Yet, with so many basically good people in this world, stories like this gang-rape are not uncommon.

another passerby didn't investigate what was happeing.???????

I'm sorry as an adult It's my duty as an adult to investigate it's every adults right and obligation to society to investigate .

You have a real societal issue goign on here. 9 boys? 9 seperate families?

The adults here including the mother have just demonstrated that children can do anything they want and no adult will intervene.

I have to agree with you here.

There has been a build of reports of this rape during the trial. In some, if i remember correctly, the girl saw three different adults as she was dragged in a headlock from block to block. One i understand was as she was dragged naked to another tower block, an adult woman winked at her and the girl felt sure this was a sign that she'd get help.

This is a lot to do with the area of London where gang culture is rife but even so if i saw a half naked 14 yr old girl in that situation, i'd call the police even if it turned out to be a false alarm.

It is indicitive of the society we live in where it is just easier to walk on by.

The girl's mother saw her own daughter with the boys but did nothing as she didn't realise it was her daughter. Another example of 'walk on by', 'it's not my kid so why should i bother?'. As it turned out, it was her kid and now her kid has her life in ruins.
