Not taking into account friends and family....Just think about you personally.
Last night i was reading Hawthornes short stories. one of which was ' Dr Heidegger's Experiment".
It's about a learned man who gives his learned friends an elixer from the fountain of youth then sits back and watches their behaviour as they become young again.
Thing is They "acted young again" ........................ with all it's emotional and physical connatations.
So how do you think you would react to being young again knowing what you know now?
Do you think you would do things differently?
Do you think you would 'think' differently?
I don't think I would have thought any differently ........I may have tried a few more adventurous things. I may have pushed to do 'achieve' a little more vigorously. Or would I? Would you if you had your time over again? ?
what say you people of forum garden?
Interesting topic:
I don't think I would act younger, but I think I would appreciate the more youthful openmindedness I seem to loose as I age.
I think I would explore more, and most definately live a ...mmmm I would live life more simplistically (is that a word).
You see I grew up in the land of Gluttony. In my prime this city and province were in the greatest boom ever. In the 80's we crashed hard and we survived and sadly we did it again (these past couple of years). I still await the crash and I would have thought we learned our lesson 20 years ago.
I don't live the high life currently and find less is more and that is something I am glad I myself learned from the first.
With the fountain of youth does this give us our time back too so we would get another 40 50 50 years back? Oh goodie then I can think of many a wonderful things I can teach my grandchildren. Simple things like going out to the garden and getting a little bit of dirt and looking at it under a microscope, or going for a hike and telling them what a certain flower is or what kind of animal droppings we encountered. I would gladly share my love of exploration and maybe I would take it to greater lengths for myself.
Beyond that I think I would carry on much like I have.
