This, I think, is Fluffy in Arabic !!! But this too may just be a rumour.

Extra disclaimer: The poster is totally unacquainted with Arabic, has posted the above pretty writing in the belief / faith / but not knowledge - that it means what the source says it means and has no other meanings under the terms of the rules and regulations of this Forum and cites her sources forthwith.

I'm more touched than I can express.

One of the joys of English is that a simple word like "touched" can have so many implications.

As for the Arabic, Pam, I'm appalled that such impossibilities are paraded as fact[1] and all the more so when they're perpetuated on such an esteemed organ of record as ForumGarden. What you've picked up is a newspaper headline for a story describing the results of a Zogby telephone poll on slavery. Or, depending on the context the word رقيق appears in, Anorexia. I'm neither anorexic nor am I John Zogby. I might just possibly be a telephone.

The moral, of course, is that facts need not just to be produced, they need to be checked beforehand.

A happy New Year to us all and may the Lord have mercy on our souls.

[1] The joke in the Online Arabic Dictionary is, of course, that American right-wingers detest John Zogby and regard the interpretations placed on his polls as unsubstantiated leftist claptrap. Hence "Zogby telephone poll on Slavery" = "Fluffy". Ho ho ho.

I think you'd make a very nice telephone, Spot.

In fact I see a surreal landscape with desert sand dunes and just off centre, an old school bakelite phone with the earpiece melting a little like Mr Dali's clocks with maybe a few of his ants running up it. Out of the mouthpiece perhaps a white lily would be growing - no, make that a leek.

1% scored the same, and

5% scored lower (less nerdy).

Definitely not nerdy, you are probably cool.

A friend just sent me this... on the subject of crushed nuts. It didn't come with footnotes or certificate of authenticity, sorry.

Elderly Woman Plays the "Nutcracker Suite" for Brazen Burglar

She's a real ball breaker.

An 88-year-old Portland, Ore. woman fended off a naked intruder by grabbing the man's crotch and squeezing.

Multnomah County Sheriff's Deputy Paul McRedmond said the man got into the house Tuesday through a sliding door. He backed the woman into her living room and pushed her face down onto a chair.

That's when the woman reached behind and squeezed. The man tore free and fled.

McRedmond said a county code enforcement officer who heard the police call on his radio spotted a car near the woman's house and passed on the license information to authorities.

Troutdale police arrested a 46-year-old man. He has been jailed on accusations of burglary, harassment and private indecency. Bail was set at $110,000.

93% scored higher (more nerdy),

1% scored the same, and

6% scored lower (less nerdy).

What does this mean? Your nerdiness is:

Definitely not nerdy, you are probably cool.

Which means that 6% are not as sophisticated as I and 1% is cool as hell! :yh_rotfl

As for the 93% well,..everyone is a little nerdy so who really cares? So long as people are themselves I don't know anything that could matter more in life!
