I don't like the AARP. They claim to speak for and represent the thinking of seniors. Not this senior, I tend to think for myself. They are a money machine that markets services and products to seniors that are supposedly in the seniors best interest and pocket book. Hmmm

I did not join AARP either, I don't see any pluses if I do.

I was wondering myself. My parents don't belong either. Ok, now I think I will have too look into them in 10 yrs or so. So, really, they are just a "for profit" group? Snakes.:-5

No---I wouldn't say that profit is their only reason for being. They politically, do represent the thinking of some seniors and lobby for them. I just do not agree with some of their thinking when it comes to senior issues. Some seniors feel that they are getting some kind of special deal when they buy products or services advertised in the AARP magazine and that's not the case.

Well, I joined AARP when I turned 50, the youngest you can become a member. And over the years, I have gotten 10 to 15% off car rentals, hotels, cruises, and the like, for being an AARP member. That alone certainly more then covered the pidledly yearly AARP membership dues.

Why just last Thursday, I joined the local Golds Gym down here!

And because I am a card carrying AARP member, my Golds Silversneekers membership fee, as well as the monthly fee, is "completely" paid for by AARP!!! For 2009, AARP want's their seniors to be fit, and they're willing to put their money where their mouth is!

So I'm very satisfied with AARP!

I think those people still look great for their age !

age has never been an issue for me, its how you feel an how you make it!;)

age has never been an issue for me either! i admit i thought about it a little more when i turned 40 but it doesn't really bother me, i mean i am still the same person i was when i was 25!

growing old gracefully! so many peopl don't want to do that! just take care of your skin and be as healthy as possible, what you've got going on the inside will show up on the outside! and i have seen some absolutely beautiful older women! :-6

Another good organization to belong to is AAA. I got my daughter a membership last August and it has paid for itself so far.

People today are living longer than ever before in history. With medical advancements people are able to live to be older than ever thought possible. In fact, living to be 100 years old may soon be the norm and not the exception,

I believe it Hope. My grandma just turned 92 and her mom hit 90. My mom is 67 and looks like she's in her mid 50's. I just hope I get the longevity of my moms side!!! :-6
