Thwarting Sea Pirates

The tankers are huge, the pirates vessels are small speed boats. The pirates fire or threaten with rocket attack and then board.

Seems to me that two or three men on each tanker could be trained in the use of laser directed weaponry to blow the pirates out of the water. Wouldn't this be better than having half the worlds navies scouring the seas for these gnats?

I agree, Lon. These massive tankers should be able to defend themselves at sea.

Exactly what I've been saying to friends. Only my suggestion was that they hire mercenaries to shoot any pirates trying to board these vessels.

Any thought's on why this has not been done. It's just so hard to believe that a little old speedboat with some raggedy ass pirates could pull this off so readily.

Because then there will be all kinds of people whining about how the big bad powerful ships are killing the poor little defenseless pirates....and oh how it is just so unfair....and disproportionate.

Why, all of a sudden, is it so wrong to protect oneself?

So yor solution is to let them have the ships and kidnap the crews for ransom without any ramifications?

I object to this line of thinking.

I myself am a pirate and that doesnt make me a bad person.

Its just a job.

After work I sit in front of the tv and eat Doritos just like the rest of you.

I would like an apology after all this shooting us talk please.
