If I was the mother of any one of these teens, I would be very upset with this teachers decision. Didn't want to worry them............... This person does not possess the good common sense to be in charge of anything, let alone children, especially not mine!

Another surfer will get taken or bitten.
Then there will be a big shark hunt on & it will be the sharks fault
Sorry but we swim in their home & should have more respect for the sharks.
They are breeding & hungry.
As for the person in charge, what can I say:yh_nailbi:-5:-5

That's exactly what Mr O was saying earlier. Some irresponsible swimmer gets taken and then they want to specie's hunted to extinction.
I have had a fool proof way of avoiding being attacked by sharks..... in countries where they live and breed....... I don't go in the water....... so simple :sneaky:

Oscar, It's been a hundred of your degrees here in the Australian summer. Most of the population live round the coast. Like hunting and gun collecting is to Americans. ice hockey is to the Canucks, and eating jellied eels and arguing is to Brits... so getting in the sea is to Aussies. I'm sure one of the usual FG statisticians will be able to dig out figures to prove I'm on another planet (I admit it up front) but I expect you're far less likely to be took by a shark Down Under than you are to be smashed up in a hockey match north of the border, shot dead in America or possibly biffed by bad bobbies in Britain... I take care, but I'll take my chances. Sunday, as usual, I'm off to the beach. :-6

Is there really such a thing as a shark just cruisin' ? How does that teacher know that it's just cruisin' and not circling around finding a suitable meal for it ? I think those swimmers should immediately get out of the water and not risk their lives like that. That is very dangerous !

Like AussiePam I live by the beach grew up spending almost everyday in the Pacific Ocean. Sharks do cruise and when they are breeding they are hungry. We have warm weather here as well actually this past week its been in the 80's (that's degrees) and the beach is calling. Would I put a group of kids in danger like that NO take them to a pool much safer.
I have been on a surf board many time in my youth and seen sharks under me, mind you they aren't the great whites. It is their home we should be cautious and know they will eat us if hungry enough.

If you panic and become frantic you will catch their interest and then the hunt is on.
