This is the most pleasing story I've seen in months. Every single thing about it sounds perfect. Well done to everyone concerned, you're all heroes.

Yes, its always good when these things happen with very few casualties. In this case no one has died, which is amazing really, and a testament to the pilots and the rescuers for doing a good job. Thank god no one was killed, but it must have been some sight to witness.

Mind you, the Hudson River seems a bit wider than the Liffey. I'm not sure you'd fit an Airbus under O'Connell Bridge, the wings would touch both banks.

ya know what just popped into my head...
i wonder how many passengers had ahold of their seat cushions when they were picked up? next time i guess i'll listen to those instructions.. i always figured water landing translated to kiss your butt goodbye..
there is something awesome about seeing rescue and emergency folks in action and coming out on top, isn't there..?:-4

It was a good job by the pilot and the rescue teams. It's nice to have a happy ending.

I guess he ran through a flock of Canadian geese. I fully expect GW Bush to declare Canada a terrorist nation and declare war in his speech tonight.
Sorry, I couldn't resist. :yh_rotfl More likely he will call for the deportation of all Canadian geese back to Canada with the exception of the cell ring leaders which will go directly to Guantanamo.

Scrat....................you've been hanging around Jimbo too much.

Great story :-6
Sorry to bring doom and gloom but i will never forget the tv footage of the 1982 Boeing 727 going into the 'Potomac'.... That was horrible but i can still remember it vividly.

My favorite quote so far...:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl
"That pilot is a stud," said one police source. "After the crash, he was sitting there in the ferry terminal, wearing his hat, sipping his coffee and acting like nothing happened."

That was the first thing that popped into my mind this afternoon when it happened but thankfully everyone was saved in this crash.

Simply and truly amazing the pilot was awesome. All aboard alive and no real major injuries except for the frigid water they hit a bit of hypothermia. The plane stayed together that alone is something. Boy what a great ending to what could have be a very sad tragedy today..!!:-6:-6

That plane helped as well.
The Airbus A320 they we're saying that that the ability that the aircraft has to make itself more water tight through a "emergency ditching system" that the pilots can activate to seal up air vents and seal engine system in the event of landing on water helped to avert a serious tragedy.
This is why I always prefer flying in Airbus planes, they just feel, I dunno, safer.
The pilot though did an extraordinary flying job to bring that plane down without making it cartwheel on the surface of the Hudson. Apparently he text'd his wife after with the comment, "There's been an incident". What a guy, now that is one cool fella.
I am glad the crew are being given the freedom of the city, they have earned it. The emergency services also responded in an exemplerary manner.
A magnificent job.
Well done.
