As is my nightly ritual, i have read all the newspapers on line, (yes gmc, even the broadsheets with the big words:)) and i have to report that absolutely nothing exciting happened in Britain today.
Gordon Brown has mumbled something about the NHS blah blah
More Humiliation for the Bank of Scotland blah blah
Cold weather on the way blah blah
Infact, the no news is so not exciting, one headline showed 'Large flock of pigeons seen in tree blah blah
Goodnight

One thing of not happened yesterday, RBS shares rose by 25%.
When they fall it's front page news, when they rise it's not news at all.
Always remember, good news does not sell newspapers.

Your not wrong there Bryn. It was a struggle to find anything worthy of reporting yesterday but i missed the RBS share rise, obviously, they hid that one well.

No, we just had the latest BBC up-date on the hour and it appears the sweet has been located nestling in amongst an empty coke can, an old newspaper, some fallen leaves and a take-away wrapper.
A further up-date is expected on how the sweet recovery mission is going.

Well said raven.
I think Gordon Brown was mumbling some-thing about Patients rights but i agree..... Too many people are too quick to knock our NHS. They should try getting our health care in Africa or even some other European countries.

This is one FANTASTIC system. Would even be better than America if the politicians would keep their stupid noses out of it. And yes i AM a card carrying member of the RCN.

Good for you!! I have two sisters, both with degree's in nursing and are staff nurses. One in A & E in Esses and one at The Royal Sussex in Brighton. They are proud of their NHS and know first hand that our system is the best in the world. As i said, too many like to complain when they probably have no idea of the dedication put in by the staff.
Some months ago, i was in pain and being weekend, my GP was unavailable. We drove to the nearest A& E. I was seen within 10 minutes. A doctor was called down from a ward. He diagnosed the problem, i was treated, given pain relief and steroid anti-biotics, with a letter for my GP. I was home 40 minutes later.

Yep, sounds about right. I am soooo proud of my profession. And guess what? Community Matrons have arrived! They do the house calls that doctors dont do anymore. They prescribe, diagnose and everything! I can tell you it's very very cool! It's the roll up your shirt sleeves, get into it up to your elbows kind of medicine.

We certainly need those Matron's back.
My husband had radical open surgery a while back as he had advanced cancer. He was actually given 9 months to live two years ago. The nurses who came out daily to him were fantastic. the after-care he gets even now, is second to none, even counselling as they won't give him the all clear. I hate it when the Brits rubbish the best service in the world.

*gasp* aw hunny. I am sooo glad you still have your hubby. I've seen with my own eyes, the miracles we can achieve with medicine. I also know we can do it here too. I have to be one of the most lucky of medical practitioners, as I have had careers on both sides of the Atlantic now. I hate it when Brits rubbish Britain in general, let alone the NHS. That just pisses me right off!

I bet some things happened you dont know about. Top secret stuff in the palace or something.
Dont you ever wonder why some hoodlums dont knock Stonehenge over ?
If I were evil and a hoodlum Id drive my car into it in some kind of drunken hilarity.
I find it odd no ones done that.

Many would like to Nomad :wah: Unfortunately, Stonehenge is guarded by security 24/7. It's got more security than The Whitehouse!!

Yep :yh_rotfl We had a scandal here some years ago.... A nutter just walked clean into Buckingham Palace and actually walked into the Queen's bedroom before some-one was alerted. There was a National out cry of course about lack of security for our Queen, but all the guards were up Stonehenge guarding the rocks :yh_rotfl
