Can't Get a Raise

It was nice to see that President Obama has frozen the salaries of the top earners in the White House. Of course, one has to wonder exactly what is frozen at this point since they are on the job less than 24 hours and presumably the first raise would not have come in any case for at least a year, but hey, it’s a nice gesture, meaningless, but nice and no doubt it makes those who have not received a raise in a few years feel a bit better as well. :-5

Since there is a call for all Americans to get involved and help their country I propose that all Americans who earn more than $100,000 freeze their incomes as well (and that includes the husband and wife who earned a combined $150,000 a year). That should help the economy. :-2

However, logically, it appears that the President took the exact opposite action required. He should have taken some of the new found government money and given his staff a big raise and told them to go buy a new car. :yh_rotfl

I have every confidence subsequent decisions will have a bit more substance.

there's nothing wrong with those of us that choose to stand back and reserve judgement until we actually see what kind of job he's going to do rather than bestowing upon him this blind, drooling devotion I see from people that doesn't make a whole lot of sense right now. :-3 :p :wah:

True, but he inspires people, and that is what is important.

People can survive or not survive depending on a leader. He himself cannot do much, but if he can inspire those who can do something to step forward and contribute, then that is success.

Great leaders don’t do great things themselves, they inspire others to do great things.

I think most government employees got their raise last month, another one is not due until the end of the year. (government retirees did)

Good point, my worry is not his leadership so much but his ability to keep the nuts in Congress under control.
