Good, a lot of my remaining family in Birmingham work in Jaguar Rover, and life is no picnic for them or anyone else in Brum I can tell you, so hopefully this will help, whether it actually will help I have no idea.

At least its not the F-ing banks getting help for once.

It is good news but i see the problem going far deeper than 2.3 billion. We are also affected by the fall out of Chrysler and General Motors in the US.

Past governments have ravaged our motor industry however, the over inflated prices of British cars is also a large part of the problem. This needs to be addressed to get people to buy British and get the industry back on it's feet.

Yes, I am sure that British people would want to help the country by buying British-made cars (whether the parent companies are British, Japanese, German or whatever, as long as they are making cars in the UK), but the companies will have to make cars that people want to own, at a price they can afford. I am sure they can do it, but it will take time. There is probably going to be consolidation across the European car industry, but as long as its saves as many good companies and jobs and people jobs as possible, I don't mind.

Our family always says there are two things that would make my father turn in his grave. One, the downfall of 'Rover' and two, 'Mick Jagger' being knighted.

Seriously, it would have broken him to see what happened to Rover. The problem is, (In my humble opinion) foriegn cars are better (until you need parts).

What utter bollocks. The car industry did themselves in by making crap cars and deluding themselves people would buy them just because they were british. Did you ever own a british leyland car? they were rubbish. Now we are helping out an indian company that bought jaguar for a pittance and another making a luxury car that costs as much as a house used to.

People aren't buying cars because they can't get the finance or they are worried they might not have a job before very long. So how telling the banks to start lending some of that money we are giving them rather than just using it to make their bottom line look good- most of the credit card companies are putting up their rates, the banks have all increased their charges and are refusing to honour agreed overdrafts-if you have any friends with business accounts ask them if they have had the terms and conditions altered recently.

While they're at it maybe they should put up road tax on larger older cars that tend to be bought by people with families on a tight budget even more so the roads are clearer for the rich bastards that can still afford to buy range rovers.

This government is pissing in the wind. When they get the direction right they take all the credit when they got it wrong it's everybody elses fault. Peter Mandelson is a lying crook that should never have been allowed anywhere near government.

I hear the mew labour manifesto is going to be called "It wasn't us"

First all, don't hold back gmc.... say what you mean :yh_rotfl

Don't keel over with shock now my little Scottish Thistle.... but i actually agree with you.

I think it's a waste of bloody money and they's be better off just chucking the money down the toilet.

In an ideal world, it'd be good if people did buy British and got the industry back on it's feet but we all know they won't.

I live next to a school and you only have to see the foriegn people carriers parked up just to pick one kid up to see what people buy.

I agree, 'Mandy' is a lying crook and i can't see why his lovliness touched him with a barge-pole. It's bastards like him who give the wonderfull Labour Party a bad name.

I have no idea what make my car is other than it's white, foriegn and a nightmare to get parts for.

There are actually no british based manufacturers left that make people carriers. range rover discoveries don't qualify as people carriers they're basically yuppie tractors.

Would you please stop referring to gordie boy as his loveliness as it makes me want to boak all over my keyboard. As a more appropriate appellation (assuming of course you wish to honour his scottish origin) might I suggest.

Heid bummer.

First of Scottish Party of one.... I have just been reading how the SNP have been accussed of wasting their budget :yh_rotfl

Second... if you must refer to his Gorgousness, then please use capital letters which befit our illustrious leader.

Third... I don't want to honour his celtic origin with your strange language as he lives in Britain and he's ours and we're not giving him back.

May i suggest:

His sexiness

His budgetness

His Chancellorness

His cunningness

His maninanicesuitness

His Royalness

His wontgobacktoscotlandifyoupaymeness.

And the thought of you boaking over your keyboard has put me off my porkchopsness

Oh please keep him.

If they can't get the budget through we might be in for another scottish parliament election, which would be very interesting for you down there. If labour lose again or lose even more seats then the likelihood is labour will lose the next general election and you will probably see moves to get rid of gordie boy. I wouldn't like to call it though. Folk are just so fed up with the lot of them.

I was reading that the SNP had been critised for wasting their budget in paying back their debts......... What an absurd thing to do? You wouldn't catch his Worshipness carrying out any old nonsense like that. No No No..It's borrow borrow borrow. That's the way to do it!

Well, i must agree with you auld yin, there's going to be some right shananigans going on up there north of the border with Labour and the SNP. At the least the Tory Tosspots won't stand a cat in hell's chance.

Well, you half got it right.

Now look here you Irish person....Your just jealous because your country is falling to piece's and no-one knows what the hell your government is doing, not even your government themselves. So, when you've cleaned up your own back yard, then you may resort to cheap snipes about my Gorgeousness.

Also, some members have been complaining that His sexniness is being mentioned far too much in threads and is getting fed up with it. The fact that we're British and he happens to be king of Britain doesn't come into it apparently.

I put a thread on about the car industry, making sure he was refered to as 'The Government' and there you go again, slipping his name into the thread and upsetting other members again. if you must slip his Worshipness name in, then please refer to him by his correct title....The Right Honerable Gordon Brown. Thankyou Dr Gallstones. :):)

I look to you, of all members, my little kilt tosser, to add intelligent debate into the thread. I do not expect you to resort to agreeing with Jumbo's childish digs at our noble leader.

Now please return to your usual pythonesque critical old self and make your regular contributions to a serious thread.

If you continue to encouage the Bracknell kebab, then i shall have to stalk you instead.

Try some irish or scots ones-it can't tell and there are more of them anyway.
