Aloneness is the new monastery of the elderly.
Solitude is chosen, but aloneness is thrust upon us.
Some people feel alone in a crowd.
When you are by yourself, do you feel alone or energized by the solitude?

Temporary solitude is a pleasurable experience for me. Alone time, peace and quiet....those are good.
I only feel lonely when my friends ignore me.

I wouldn't say I was a loner as such but I do love being on my own. There are times when I crave total silence. I feel at peace and relaxed on my own.

I am a extrovert but also an only child. The only child automatically learns to live with aloneness and develops the ability to amuse and entertain themselves. I feel more a sense of contentment than feeling energised during the times I am alone.
For the elderly that suffer the various forms of dementia they are truly alone in their world of nothingness.

I'm familiar with this pain. Too many of us have parents and friends that this is striking.

Having always been the odd one out in life I have become used to and enjoy my own company.
I don't let being alone bother me I mean I still go off to town wander round the shops try on crazy clothes and laugh at myself in the mirror or go into jewelers and try very expensive rings or braclets just for fun. Just like I see other people doing in a group.
Of course anyone who has dogs will confirm that with a dog around you are never alone they are the best company . Often after spending an evening with people ( yawn yawn)I come home and give the dogs an extra hug just to let them know how much more I enjoy their company.

I'm one of the one's that is always alone in a crowd. I'm always lonely even when family is home. I do enjoy the peace sometimes cuz as soon as hubby or daughter get home it's either the tv or radio blaring...sometimes both. I like being on here with my friends, but even that can be too much sometimes and I can log in or out depending on my moods.
I do talk to my dogs, turtles and fish most of the day...and yes, dogs are the best. :-4
