Victims.... more victims...

Victims of the economy,

a beautiful house belonging to a beautiful woman who only wanted to be a mother and good wife stands out on the block, a stark, sharp slap of reality... it is for sale... why is this so shocking, .... this beautiful woman has to sell, she is alone on her own, after divorce and separation and a few failed relationships she finds herself on her own... afloat on a sea of dispair... she is poorly qualified for the work world, she raised her children, she took in other children she was a stay at home mom. Dear sweet Bambi, I think of you often and pray you come through this with something good.

A death, a loss of the soul money maker in the family. A family of 3 teens what now. Another sad sad situation, the man of the house takes a fall at work which puts him into a 2 week comma he never recovers and passes on. He leaves behind his GF of many years and 4 children, one of which has long moved out and gone on to make his own life... a fine young man who is my son in law... At 26 he feels the pressure to look after his family. His mother stayed at home all her life and raised him and his siblings, she has provided outstanding care for my grandson as well..... now what, where does she go from here.

15% of my company is gone, we received letters yesterday about further lay off's, salary and bonus reductions and restructuring with the closing line being "We must exceed expectations at all levels to remain competirive."

And we all know this is just the beginning. I hope for everybody here on FG we can all keep our heads above the water and ride out the storm. If I were a praying person I would pray for you all I can only send beams your way and hope for the best for everybody.

Minks I'm a praying person I will pray for your family and everyone here in the garden. Times are very tough for everyone all over the world.

It has hit my family as well I took a 5% pay cut we cut staff and all of us left are taking on work that wasn't in our job description a two months ago. My son-in-law was laid off just before the holidays he is an electrician. He had to sign up with a temp agency to get jobs they are few and far between.

I'm afraid it will get worse before it gets better. Until they get a handle on the housing crisis and the idiots that got us here nothing will change. :-5 Even those of us who live within our means are suffering. :(

Oh Carla you are so right it's everywhere isn't it. And I can only hope that when the time comes I can take a pay cut as opposed to loosing my job. For the past couple months some of us at work too have been taking on any odds and ends that we can just to pitch in.

I hope for the best in these trying times for your family as well dearheart.

Oh, it is bad here too. My son works one day a month for 'nuttin', but he is lucky, he is at home and doesn't have to support a family. I am praying for you all, minks. :-4

Minks, Carla, Chonsi...I pray things start getting better but the tunnel is dark for quite a few of us. I have a home that my husband and I lived in for 29 years. After he passed, I have been trying to hold on to it but am finding that costs keep going up and the income doesn't come close to matching it. I am going to be forced to sell this summer as well. With the housing market on the down side, I will be lucky if it does. I have to refinance this coming Fall and at my age the best number of years that they will consider is 5. No way can I afford the monthly payment a 5 year mortgage requires. I know from reading all the news stories that I am not the only one in this position either. Foreclosures are at the highest level in history in these parts

All I can do is go with the flow and do what I can. Not the bright and happy future that I always dreamed of.

I know I can say we are all in this together. Words of comfort do help. Now is a good time to count our blessings and reach out to others. Our lives may change, but we will make it through this. We can choose to either be "vicitms" or "survivors".

Sorry, but I don't see how the examples have much to do with the economy as sad as they may be.

I wasn't trying to be cynical, but these unfortuante things happen to people good or bad economy and I don't see it as helpful to attribute every misfortune we face in life today to the economy.

I understand but I thought her emotional contribution transcended specificity.

I could tell she was digging deep and any response would require more thought and some compassion. To me it was less about economic matters and more about suffering regardless of the cause.

Sorry if I was harsh.

Oh my title and comments are relative to each other, circumstances in both these cases, lead to these women becoming victims of the drastic downturn of the economy here. They have such very limited experience in the work force and with it being sooooo tight now they will be at a greater loss than say someone like me who has work place skills. Sure they can train but while they train who pays for them to live, or raises their children. They have been forced into being single supporting parents. I am a single supporting parent but have been in the workforce forever. These women are like ants floating on the ocean. The economy will beat them up badly. And I am certain there are many many more just like them out there.
