I once went to Chicago (won a trip!!) and going from the airport
to the hotel I saw one of those flashing time/temp signs on a bank,
only this one had the humidity, I'll never forget it... it was 98 degrees
and 98% humidity! Now THAT is hot!! :-6
I was raised where it was hot but dry. I love heat. I sit in the shade
and read, and don't do much. Get up and run the garden hose over my
head and/or down my back... brrrrrr!!!
;)

I feel for you LC. Synthetic fibres in extreme heat must be excrutiating! Does this cause problems for other officers with regard to skin irritations, heat rashes etc? I was just wondering because it could be a real occupational health and safety issue, or are you guys n' gals supposed to just 'soldier on'?

I can handle the heat, with humididty I wilt and suffer. Summertime temps in Roseville (near Sacramento) can run 100 to 104 for weeks on end and I have no problem with it because the humidity is around 26%. I'll walk 18 holes of golf with no problem. New Jersey (where I once lived) at 85 degrees and 85% humidity, wipes me out.

A 90 degree day I can handle.. as long as there isn't any humidity and I am on the lake in the boat...add in the humidity and forget it.. you can have it. Now give me a day like yesterday.. 40.. blue skies.. incredible ski conditions.. yeppers.. take that over 90 and humid anyday..

You'd love it here it's been raining for two days, nothing like warm spring rain to make you feel alive. Go and stand under a cold shower if you want the same effect.
In Scotland, there is no such thing as bad weather - only the wrong clothes.
| Billy Connelly Quotes
Scottish-Americans tell you that if you want to identify tartans, it's easy - you look under the kilt, and if it's a quarter-pounder, you know it's a McDonald's.

Heat? Humidity? What is that about, I never live in that heh heh , cool and dry here. So only heat and humidity I see is holidays and it never is long enough to find discomfort with that.

Give me HOT HOT HOT!!!! When it's super hot out, we just put on short sleeves, and jump on the scoot! Riding down by the water, even on the hottest day feels great when you're on a motorcycle. I'd live where it's hot year-round if I could.

I'm OK up to around 85F But above that and especially if it's humid I disappear inside to the comfort of air-conditioning! It gets to around 100 here in the height of the summer (triple digit days we call 'em). They're bad news.
I sympathize with our colleagues from Scotland and Ireland. During a 'summer' vacation there some years ago it rained every day for two weeks and it was so cold! So on 'triple digit days' here at home I remember that and the heat and humidity suddenly becomes more bearable!

I absolutely LOATHE excessive heat. KC has miserable summers with the agony peaking in August. I had some friends from Carla's area here last year and they were literally sick unless we were indoors. Temps in the 90's with 90% humidity that floods in from the Gulf Coast is so awful I let my yard go till September! I know about the dry heat in the SW deserts. And that kind of heat kills. The humidity kills the youngest and oldest of the poor. A libertarian wet dream! My favorite weather is either in Labrador, P.I.E. or western Canada. And to think August is my birth month! My poor mother back in '63 must have been miserable! BAN HUMIDITY!!
