Cats hunt. It is in their nature. For them not to do this would be alien to their species.
The only way to stop this would be to have pets become full time house dwellers. This, however, would not deal with the feral cats, which most likely are the hunters, not the pampered kitties of doting cat lovers.

My mom has two pampered kitties that manage to kill at least a few mice that come in to her house via the garage. They also attack the Christmas tree and take down their "kill (ornaments)" and line them up under the tree.:wah:

Cats instinct is to hunt, if they didn't eat all the mice and rats....we would
be infested......
killing rabbits....now there is always a first, probably farrow cats, which are wild cats.....
- outdoor cats are killing the birds in yards, not a nice thing to see, especially when they don't eat them....it's just a game to them.
Cats are to be kept inside.
total waste of time and money......this is normal for cats......they should know this.

Brilliant, can we have a cat-superhunter league for the UK.
The cat with the most kills by the end of the month gets a crate of whiskas, the winner at the end of the year gets a lifetimes supply of catfood?
I guess they are trying to see how quickly domestic cats are wiping out certain species in Urban areas, maybe that, or they are just really, really bored.

I totally agree with you Odie. It is a cats instinct to hunt wheather for food or just a game. It's a survival instinct. You can take the cat out of the jungle but not the jungle out of the cat.
Maybe we should tag hawks and eagles too.

I say a lifetime supply of cat litter. And who is paying for this study?

Yeah and we could have a F.A. Cup Final......... The cats would beat Aston Villa 5--0 :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl (Kitty Buffon in goal)
