You are going to try and survive for one year eating only 5 things (no combinations like pizza or stew) You can select one or more veggies, cheeses, chicken, pork, beef or fish, any combination of fruits. Water will be your only beverage.

If you had allowed us 6 choices Lon, I would also go for unprocessed honey.

Actually what you have outlined for us in the choice of the 5 given does not account for grains or seeds of any kind. You have a poor diet hun

# of combinations you can get out of 5 ingredients.

5 = 5x4x3x2x1 = 120

In other words you would have to have the same meal at least every 3.0416666 days on average.

No doubt about it, Throw in a baked tater, sliced tomatoes, sauteed onion and a sliced fresh jalapeno and you just might see Jesus if you looked cross eyed at an candle.

Next time you cook a steak roast a sweet potato and spread fresh asparagus on tinfoil. Salt pepper and drizzle with olive oil then put it on the grill until it starts steaming and just turning brown.

Wow !

Would you like me to correct this? That's the number of different ways you can time-order all five ingredients. The number of ways you can combine a selection of them into a single dish (1 + 5 + 10 + 10 + 5 = 31) is quite different.

If we are talking about just surviving, I would eat what's available and edible from the land and try to have some nutricious (sic) variety.

LOL, Bryn, he didn't say we could have any grains, cereals, lentils, nuts, etc. He completely overlooked the complex carbohydrates needed by our bodies. So you can't have rice.
