The new 'mistress laws' as some papers called them have the effect of legalising polygamy. They give a mistress the same legal status as a wife, even when both are in a relationship with the man at the same time.

Effectively, a man can now have more than one legal 'wife' at the same time - the Australian government has just legalised polygamy. And polyandry too, of course.

Sadly, I'm not sure they realise that they've done it!

"New laws give mistresses de facto rights

Cheating husbands will be open to divorce-style litigation from their mistresses under new laws.

News Ltd says mistresses can now claim income maintenance, property and even superannuation funds under the Family Law Amendment (De Facto Financial Matters and Other Measures), dubbed the "mistress laws", which were passed by the Senate last November and came into effect on Sunday.

The main objective is to remove same-sex discrimination from the Family Court system, but they have left the door open for a raft of de facto relationship claims.

The laws declare that de facto couples who satisfy basic criteria - such as being in the relationship for at least two years - will be treated in the Family Court in the same way as a married couple. It also applies to same-sex couples.

The laws will change the way property is divided by enabling the court to consider the "future needs" of partners, as it does for married couples.

Men or women who have a second relationship outside a marriage are now liable to legal action in the Family Court should the second partner decide he or she deserves income support or a share of assets. This is particularly the case if a child is involved."

How many wives are going to be happy in sharing their husbands superannuation with another woman they may not known existed? Someone who has not contributed to the family household in any way?

Sadly i think it will get very nasty . Men don't like women reaching into to their back pocket. I can see mistresses mysteriously going missing.

Invoice her for a third of every utility bill, school fee's, a wage to his wife for keeping house for him, the run of his car, the laundry of his clothes, the mortgage et et etc.

In was in my mag....she did it because she caught him cheating. She also took his balls. Surgeons were able to save his life but the penis and scrotum were too shrivelled to re-attach once they had been found by his brother.

Don't laugh Oscar...... Musn't laugh :lips::lips::lips::lips::lips:

I read about a man once who mutilated his girlfriends genitalia and tattooed the word "slut" just above her pubic line because she cheated on him .........................Is the concept still funny?

No, it's not funny and why i must stop myself even thinking of laughing. We had another thread going where we were more laughing at the titles of the stories in the magazine such as 'My beaver's looking for love'. The penis was one of them.
