Heya folks.
Just thought I'd say a resounding "Allo!" here at Forumgarden.
I'm a drama teacher by trade, but my primary hobby is micronationalism, hence the "Virtual" in my name here.
Currently living in Savannah, GA.

Thanks for the welcome. How are things here at Forumgarden? I've tried a couple of other forum sites, but they just boiled down as a sort of hostile kind of thing that didn't really have an interest in talking to people.
:-5 Better than that here?

Im having a town meeting at 9.

Savannah, as best I understand these things, is an exciting and civilized place to live. Congratulations. Have you been there long?

Here's a welcome mat for you.

I've been living here for about 3 years. It is an interesting and civilized place to live. There are down sides though. There's some pretty major income disparity in this town that lends itself to a pretty high crime rate. I've had 2 break-ins since I moved here.

On the other hand you're legally entitled, as best I understand it, to gun down any mother who sets foot inside your domicile absent your permission or a warrant. Sadly we in England are legally obliged to stand aside during break-ins and warn the burglar if he unknowingly approaches any potential danger while he's ransacking the place.
In Savannah a major income disparity lends itself to the poor committing crimes like break-ins? You should move to Florida where major income disparity lends itself to Ponzi pyramids, bait-and-switch finance, offshore boiler room scams and even, I'm told, casinos. Mere burglary is unknown in those parts, the criminals are far more ambitious.

Yeah... but then I would have to live in Florida.
Despite the downside (which I have ameliorated through the use of improved locks on my windows) I really enjoy living here. Savannah is a city that is inherently interesting, just in its own peccadilloes and public figures.
We've got this fellow who walks up and down the main street, carrying a sign and preaching about the "Great Satan in Washington." Before people get up-in-arms about this fellow slamming Pres. Obama, it should be noted that he has been doing this since the Carter Administration... nonstop... every day. His name is Right-to-Life Jones, which he changed it to a couple years back.
There's another fellow who wears a pink Nehru jacket, Egyptian-style nemyss (Pharoah head dress), and curl-toed gold slippers. This is his clothing, and he wears it every day. I see him on the bus often.
Around St. Patrick's day we dye the fountains of the city green. There are something in the neighborhood of 40 in our various parks and squares.
Its an odd place, Savannah is. I kinda like it.

I'll say for the record that FG is definitely a lot more pleasant than some of the other forum sites I've visited.

Micronationalism is the idea that a group of people can get together in some way and simply form their own country. The level of activity ranges from full-blown secessionist movements (for the lunatic fringe) down to political simulations and community building. Many of them conduct the majority of their business via the web.
Essentially, I participate in one of these model nations, which makes me a micronationalist. In some ways, it is a chance for me to indulge the full scope of my nerddom.

Aaaah. I see.
I must be a macronationalist then - I run a galaxy.:wah: (I satisfy my nerd side with a game called Federation Commander and run a campaign for my friends, which has been going for nearly two years now. Big bangs and primary colours! Yeah!).

One cannot argue with primary colours and things that go Bang.
