The repots are just coming in about 10 dead including one child in rural Georgia. The FBI say they expect the death toll to rise after a lone gunman carried out four seperate attacks.
He started by killing his mother, then going to his grand-parents and killing them. Also in the dead are his uncles.
He opened fire on a police unit before killing himself.
My condolences to America.

Not that you can really quantify the horror of these things just on numbers of people shot, but there have been very much larger mass shootings in the States over the years, unless they expect the death toll to rise dramatically. Well in any case its a tragedy for the poor people who have lost their lives in such a brutal way. Very sad.

Also it appears that a gunman has stormed a school in Southern Germany, killing 10 children, a bad day for these mass shootings it seems. So cruel, viscious, and pointless, human beings can do very terrible things on occasion. Ever was it thus unfortunately.

this happened in Alabama. I don't know if it's the worst in history but it is very sad and shocking. It's a small town where everyone knew each other so everyone is affected.

Sad day for Germany too.

Things were different in the 880s. A woman could ride the length of the kingdom unaccompanied carrying a gold purse back then and not be stayed in her business.

Yeah, sure she could.
Oh they found the young man in Germany who did the shooting, I think he killed 15 people in total. He died in the subsequent gun battle with the cops, whether by suicide or by being shot by police is unclear.
He was 17 years old.

My heart, prayers and thoughts go out to all the bereaved people, especially the parents of those children. This is a truly sad day indeed. Yet another such sad day.

These shootings are the utterly trivial minor consequences of individual madness. They matter to humanity less than spit. They are astoundingly rare and affect very few people.
How on earth can people square their consciences by bleating woe at this while smugly, supinely and uncaringly watching thousands upon thousands die from belligerent Western military invasion and occupation? The former can't be prevented, the latter can.

I'm sure it's not trivial to those who's relatives have been shot:rolleyes:

I do not smugly, supinely and uncaringly watch thousands upon thousands die from belligerent Western military invasion and occupation. I despair at any life taken but I choose not to repetitively post my despair for those shot in the line of duty, for whatever reason they think they are there.
I doubt they would read my post any more than the bereaved families of those killed in the US and Germany today.
I would think that a post such as yours deserves its own thread rather than disrupting those of us who wish to express our emotions over this or any other tragedy.

Neither is it to those whose relatives go down on unseaworthy Indonesian ferries, for example, but I see far less fuss here about that. These mass shootings are the adult equivalent of Amber Alerts - all noise and little substance. Distractions from day to day reality.
