Fire breaks out in central London

At least 65 firefighters are tackling a fire in a building in central London, London Fire Brigade (LFB) has said.

Fire crews were called to Field House in Chancery Lane, near Holborn, at about 1540 BST on Wednesday.

Flames can be seen reaching up to the sky from the roof of the five-storey building which the LFB said was being refurbished.

The fire is in the Immigration and Appeals Commission building. No-one is trapped inside.

Let's hope this is under control soon.

It's still going. That's just over 6 hours now. That's not good.

As for the time, I was just bemused that it said the fire crews were called at 15:40 BST.

A fire is always dangerous, but especially in a city. I hope it gets under control soon. Keep us posted, Chezzie.

Makes me think of the tragic fires 100 years ago in major cities.
