When Obama was running for office, I definately understood why he did when he went on talk shows, looking for as much exposure as he could achieve!

But now that Obama is President, I don't think it is necessary!!! It's kinda demeaning to his current stature!

I think it's kinda cool that he's going on the Leno show. IDK, he's around my age and I can see it. He's a hip dude and so is Michelle. I like both of them.

I think it's pretty cool.

Going on shows that he's still human and has a sense of humor and doesn't take himself that seriously.

Here in Canada, we have the Rick Mercer Report. The man is brilliant and hilarious. He also has had at least 2 PMs on. He's been in their house a couple of times as well.

He's made snow angles on Parliament Hill

Harper was on Mercer's show...Mercer was having a sleepover at Harper's house. It was funny.

Maybe if Bush didn't take himself so seriously and popped onto a show once ina while, his ratings would have been better.

Harper has appeared on Rick Mercer's satirical show (as Boogalette has noted) on occasion, stiffly reciting his lines.

I've also seen him at least once on the very funny sitcom Corner Gas. Again, he was stiff and stilted.

Stephen Harper is a humourless little grey turd. He just cannot connect with people.

Last fall, after he called a snap federal election ahead of the Obamania (even though it went against his government's fixed date legislation), he made his infamous " blue sweater" campaign commercial, in which he tried to appear as a folksy man of the people.

His cold, contrived smile in that ad reminded me of Springfield's Mr. Burns.

Harper is a classic passive/aggresive bully.

He is known for demanding strict loyalty within his party circle...or else! Last December, after winning another minority government term, he tried to ram through legislation that would have severely curtailed funding to the opposition parties, before the opposition called his bluff and readied themselves to topple him.

His response was to "parogue" parliament, which is to suspend the sitting of the nation's elected representatives for a month.

Harper's a bully, but he's not an idiot. He knows damn well that Obama's victory in the US pretty much torpedoes his career. Obama had someting like an 82% approval rating in Canada, and Harper has none of the charm, wit, humanity or humour that Obama possesses. His neo-conservative policies and his sad delusions about environmental degradation are much more like the hated G.W. Bush ideology.

Jay Leno has been saying Obama will be the first SITTING president to do the show. A lotta presidents do the show but after their no longer in power.

I'd much rather see him with an interviewer that will ask tough questions, but his town hall audiences are screened as tightly as Bush's was, and I doubt we'll ever see him really challenged.

I didn't see the show, but the news this morning is talking about his 'special olympics' slur................. That's the hazards of putting yourself out there and talking 'off the cuff'. I'm sure there will be an apology forthcoming...........

The way I see it ( and I didn't vote for him), is that maybe he is trying to show that he is not an elitest like Presidents of the past. That maybe he will run as open of a government as he can instead of doing everything on the secret without public knowledge. He is trying to show that he is a little closer to being one of the mass than the presidents of the past maybe.

He did fine last night. Tomorrow it will be a non event.

Except for Limbaugh. He'll still be talking about in 2014.
