Understanding this is purely subjective the question is if you had to pick three albums that influenced you the most or you could never part with which albums would you choose ?

This is difficult for me.
1. Marvin Gaye, Whats Going On
2. Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros, Street Core
3. Etta James, Life Love & The Blues
*subject to change on a daily basis.

In my opinion sometimes some of the best albums are not necessarily ones that would stand out commercially, but are so unique and artistic that it actually influences you as an individual.
One such album which you may not may ever have even heard of was
Malcolm McLaren’s: Fans
Prior to this album I knew nothing of Opera and had no interest in it, but the artistic use of classic opera songs with modern music I thought was fantastic. I am still no great lover of Opera, and have never been to one, but I would now know and appreciate some of the more popular and well know songs because of this album.
Therefore, because of the influence, I would have to also rate this one up there.

I remember the first time I heard it, in Phil Lees' room in Christ Church the year it came out. My daughter's got my copy at the moment along with my record player.
As a minor note I've just realized all three of my selections were pressed on the Island label, they're all Richard Branson albums. He deserves thanks from the British public for his services over the years.

A classic and deserving of a place on any list! :wah:
This is a toughy, but I'd have to go with:
Jacques Brel - Enregistrement Public à l'Olympia 1964 (a bit of a cheat as it's a live album)
Fairport Convention - Liege and Leaf
Elgar Cello Concerto - I can count that as an album can't I?

You can - I've seen it
It's been plagiarised a bit with several people doing cover versions of it but a very fine album all the same.

Over the years the Band Genesis has been one of my favorites as well and I was trying to think that out of all of their albums which one would I have to put in here as a ‘best’?
Then I thought of it.
When I was young I was introduced to Genesis by the album Trick of a Tail, I really liked them, this was followed by Wind and the Wuthering, and I though I was really on to a great new band.
Then they released what was probably one of the best live albums ever made ‘Seconds Out’, this was it, this was the album. Why? It was a double album with sides 1 and 4 being primarily the songs I knew from the above mentioned albums, but side 2 & side 3…. This was not a new band at all.
After hearing this I was thrown into a world of Genesis with Peter Gabriel and went out and bought, Trespass, Nursery Crimes, Selling England by the Pound, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.
This then introduced me to the solo work of Peter Gabriel who is just amazing.
Over the years Genesis changed, particularly when Steve Hackett left, they were still good but more commercial. Phil Collins started his own single career, Mike Rutherford became Mike and Mechanics, Tony Banks (who was much of the brains behind their music) also tried a solo career but less successful commercially and also has written theme music for movies. All of them exceptional musicians and provided many years of fantastic music.
So, all of this was because on New Years Eve, at the age of 14, I was home alone listening to the radio and they were playing the top 10 albums of the year and they played Seconds Out.

Oh, I love that song by Bad Company called Bad Company. Now, I'm singing it in my head.:wah: When it comes on in the car I have to force my kids to listen to it. They think all music is country!

Yeah, Eric Clapton is really country?
