It seems that politically correctness today is for a politician to explain loudly and often how much he or she is for the middle class, the working stiff, the average guy. Aside from the fact that such rhetoric is an insult to those people (yeah, it says in effect you are a helpless bunch of know nothings who need to be taken care of and protected), it is plain dangerous. It gets uninformed or partially informed people riled up, it makes people feel victimized and it brings out the nuts that are so easily inclined to seek a scapegoat for their woes.
When the chorus began about AIG bonuses, and was ramped up by the White House and the President, it resulted in death threats and protests at AIG employee homes. Is this how far we have sunk?
There is one sure place to look if you want to get a full assessment of your situation, your woes, your source of irritation and misadventure and troubles¦the mirror.

Hindsight is a wonderful teacher. The trouble is: we don't seem to be learning from our mistakes.......................

Is this how far "we" have sunk?
No, not all of us are the nuts that come out of the woodwork to threaten others with hostility and outrage.
Just because we want our opinions heard by the "powers that be", does not make us "nuts".
We are more than "the working class". We are the American people and our elected government officials are supposed to serve us. We must be able to communicate with them. Sometimes, criticism is part of that communication.
I saw nothing wrong with the picket signs.

We have reached the regretable point at which we the people no longer stirr up our government, it is now the other way around. Those we elected have learned the art of manipulation through fear and they do it for power.

So if you think your neighbor is making too much you are going to picket their home?

How the heck would I know how much my neighbor makes, unless he/she told me? This is a personal issue, that, if there is a problem, should be resolved face to face with the neighbor in the privacy of my home or their home.
Picket lines are used for a group of people to peacefully protest a general issue, not a personal one.

I think you missed the point, these people were sending death threats and picking the homes of individual employees of AIG.
