Business Lunch

I have a business lunch tomorrow with a potential client. I need someone to come with me. Better yet just go for me.
Ive never been to a business lunch per say before. I assume I buy right ?
I should make small talk. Weather, uhh hot waitress...no probably not that.
How long does the chit chat go on ? What if I drop my fork ? Should I just get up and walk out without saying a word if he asks me something I dont know or throw my salad in his face and tell him I hope he enjoys French dressing ?
Maybe I should swallow a couple of swigs of nightime cough syrup ?
I already resent him for causing me anxiety.
This isnt going to work. Ill just get a job at Burger King. How hard can it be making fries ?
Should I wear cologne, Armani too much ? What if he thinks Im gay because Im wearing cologne. I know I should brush my teeth. I can do that. Maybe thats enough ? Just brush my teeth and smile, nod my head once in awhile and say how about that AIG ?
Should I plan an itinerary ? Ill just wing it. How fast should lunch be ?
Id prefer beginning to end to be like 7 minutes tops. Id have to only order a small appetizer then I can pretend I got food poisoning and haul ass.
Ill pray. Thats what Ill do, Ill pray.

you know how they say, just be yourself?
that's just hearsay.:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl
Do you have a suite to wear and can you walk tall?
Do you know what hand to use?
Always lie at an interview.
and above all.........don't drink........well.........maybe one.
and....good luck.

I'll take your place at lunch but with one condition....I want full access to your credit card and will order the most expensive dish on the menu.:sneaky:

What idiot suggested lunch? What is he looking to hire you for? Make sure you pay your own way or he'll expect you to put out..

Who is picking the place? How can you be expected to eat when you are sitting there wondering if you will now be able to pay for meals for the next month?
Soup and salad... say you plan to go work out after this is over, so you need to keep it light. No soup with beans in it, for obvious reasons:rolleyes:
I agree it would be nice if you brushed your teeth. If you forget, however... just discreetly slip them into your pocket and hopefully he won't notice the gaffe..:sneaky:
Cologne on men says you did not bother showering for the last couple of days and the deodorant is no longer masking the fact...
Over all though, babe... feeling good vibes about this one... really good vibes..:-6

Dress in a nice suit, not an evening kind but work style.
Order on the cheap side of the menu, so the client knows you are frugal with their cash.
Double inspect the glasses and silverware for fingerprints and other debris, to show you are always alert.
Order your coffee black, you don't need any sugar to hype you up about this experience.
After lunch, take the dishes back to the kitchen yourself, to show them manual labor is not beneath you.
Leave your whoppee cushion at home.

I'm assuming you suggested lunch so take charge. Nice suit for daytime, or great shirt and sports coat.
Just look COOL and in control. You have a great personality Nomad use it. People like to feel comfortable so try to be relaxed and they will as well. Simple food always the best choice. Good luck...!! RELAX, RELAX, RELAX

Good luck lad, I would offer to go with or for ya but don't think I can get there on time besides my suit is at the dry cleaners.
Relax and just be you.

You eat beans, cabbage, and boiled eggs the night before. The louder and stinkier the gas, the more they are impressed.

Go get 'im, bro! Don't forget: YOU are the professional here. You have the goods this guy needs. HE needs YOU, not the other way around. There are thousands of clients, but only one of you. He's damned lucky to find you now rather than after you've figured out you're not charging enough by half. :-6:-6

I didnt do anything outrageously stupid. I handled myself pretty well for a 1st time experience. He wants to grow his company with me and sell in 5-7 yrs but Id rather grow my own company. Im tired of working for others. Very pleasant man. I enjoyed his company but Ill have to think on it. Looked just like Tim Robbins.
Thanks for asking.

I'm glad it went well. Just because opportunity knocks, doesn't mean you have to open the door. You gotta do what's right for you.
Tim Robbins, eh?

To be honest he could learn from me. Hes had no training. He doesnt know state statutes
Id have to produce and grow a territory under his name. Why hand a potential client his card when I could hand them mine ?

btw, you talk and talk and talk about absolutely nothing to do with business then, when you think 'ohmyfreakinglord how long can this go on?" suddenly you can talk about business really fast and blunt, then someone pays the check. Usually the one who stands the most to gain from the meeting is the one paying.
