i am very very proud but worried as all people with children in the army are ,i have carried one daughters coffin to her grave not something i want to do again nor is it something i would wish on my enimies ,my grandfather a wise man indeed used to say if you want peace you have to fight for it .. alas it is true but the thoughtof my daughter dying in some dust bowl for nothing ... is more upsetting to me than my mere words can convay to you

i know it would be no use whatso ever to say to the hitlers of this world er we dont want a war ,or to the japs in pearl harbour stop please but just why are we throwing our young troups lives away again i just dont get it

And Tony slimeball Blair had the out and out gall to cite that as his favourite piece of poetry as he sent our troops off to war - couldn't even see the irony of it.

Eric Bogle was most put out to be described as a first world war Australian poet - given that he's a living Scottish singer and all that :wah:

War is going to be a useful for as long as humans disagree.

I believe in nonviolence. I believe in resolution. But I also believe in standing up and fighting.

You may be able to show them God, but no guarantee they will bow.

or...

You may show the opponent the folly of their ways, but that doesn't mean they will simply drop their weapons.

Ourselves and the enemy are quite similar. It's almost funny. Ironic, really. Each side is saying, "what the hell is wrong with them?!"

I'm for justice. If that includes peace, than great. Peace is a perfect state, though, and these are imperfect times.

Simply saying "we want peace" does not make any one person's mind or spirit or whatever more inclined to be peaceful.

War unfortunately is part of the human condition. What the response is to what's the point of it, I don't have one, there is always some short-term reason for a war, sometimes it may make sense, sometimes not, but philosophically there is no point, but then there isn't much point to the human condition either, we just mill around and do what we do. Here is how a much more eloquent man thought about it.

To be, or not to be--that is the question:

Hmmm.... I think a bow and arrow setup is wonderful. You can re-use the arrows. Reduce, reuse recycle, everyone!

But.... for real long distance, I've always been a fan of the sniper. A good unit isn't complete without one.
