well i knew that would get your attention! :sneaky: we have again discussed homosexuality in a thread tonight, but i wonder if we could discuss sex in general non-explicit terms. just 'normal' garden-variety heterosexual sex, how you feel about it, like before marriage, in marriage, aside from marriage, oh what the heck, in all its manifestations and emotionality. how important is it to you? what does it really mean to you? does sex equal love? does sex make you fall in love? does love make you fall into sex? i may be taking the Garden to a place it hasn't been but it is a topic we can all relate to.(what the heck, i am always skating on thin ice!)

Leave it to LC to be so abrupt!! These are the kinds of things the Garden NEEDS once in a while! A little "shake-you-up." But if you think I am going to discuss my sex life with all of you...well....OK, what the hell.
How important is sex: One word? EXTREMELY. It's a way to connect with your partner like no other. It's an expression of trust. When you're in love. I've had sex just for the sake of sex, and it's different than sex when you're in love. In my humble opinion. They don't go hand in hand, neccessarily. "Someone" I know has a very good theory on this subject, and I think I will leave the rest to him. It's pretty intriguing, actually. Heck, explaining his view on the subject is how he got me to first sleep with him.
I'm KIDDING!!!! :yh_rotfl

:wah: Nice one LC!
Well I guess I too, will be brave enough to dip a toe into this pool of a topic.
/avoids deep end.
It's all good!
It's a fundamental, biological urge or act.
It's all natural.
It's the ultimate expression of intimacy, attraction and trust.
It's emotionally exhilarating and bonding.
It's fun.
It's a great work-out and stress reliever.
It can help induce sleep if that's a problem for you.
and on and on...........
Next.........

As an Englishman I am both appalled and shocked that this is a public discussion, Sex for procreation only and should be accomplished with both parties retaining as many clothes as possible whilst still making the act achievable.
The lady should be supine and under no circumstances move or assist the gentleman in any way, if she requires some inspiration can I suggest that she "lies back and thinks of England".
It is my understanding that our American cousins indulge in the practice of sex for recreational purpose and indeed profess to enjoy such matters, I would hope for the sake of the British Empire that this sort of Behaviour does not make it's way across the Atlantic

Aw shucks! Just as well, my 12 year old reads this forum.
just 'normal' garden-variety heterosexual sex, how you feel about it, like before marriage,Before marriage...hmmm... I think it is fine, but I also feel that one must be prepared to undertake the responsibilities and consequences that may arrise with sex.
in marriage,
Well, it is okay. Actually, I think it is an important part of marriage, but becomes less signifigant as the relationship progresses. It is possible to love and the sexual side of the marriage fade away.
aside from marriage,
Well battery love can be better than married sex, I would assume. :p
oh what the heck, in all its manifestations and emotionality. how important is it to you?
It is becoming less and less important to me, sadly. Even with kids, it was one of the major focuses in my personal life and marriage.
what does it really mean to you?
Well, it did mean fun and pleasure. Now it means worries about getting pregnant.
does sex equal love?no
does sex make you fall in love? I think sex can help muddy the waters and make a person think they are in love.
does love make you fall into sex? It can. A person usually feels the drive to be connected to the person they are in love with.
i may be taking the Garden to a place it hasn't been but it is a topic we can all relate to.(what the heck, i am always skating on thin ice!)
Aw, this thread is very tame.

Maybe we should start a thread addressing what constitutes great sex.

Hmmmm, my favorite topic lately.
I think sex runs the gamut of possibilities, much like music does. You can listen to music, or then you can feel it all through yourself.
Sex for the sake of physical pleasure is like listening to music, while sex as a celebration of how much you love someone is feeling the music. Completely different worlds.
I fully expect it to continue when I get married, and I expect it will get better and better. Hey, God gave us these bodies of ours and pleasure is a large part of it.

at this point in my life sex equals love~~~i am one female deputy in a dept. of 450 men and 27 women sworn officers. opportunities are plenty, despite very strict and enforced morals clauses. i always felt that a woman officer cannot maintain her credibility and respect if she is fooling around. in fact, i have counseled new young recruits on this subject. so for a number of years i eschewed a romantic life, and just did my job, perfectly happy and content. and then i met my soulmate, Bothwell.(before coming to FG) it was worth the wait, and even though it is a frustration being apart for now, i can deal with it. but when he is here...oh honey!!! love and sex indistinguishable. the more important component is EMOTION combined with faith and trust, true and meaningful. and when that emotion is present, you can get through the absences.

Sex is something to be enjoyed by a married couple who are deeply commited to one another, it's an expression of love and devotion that re-enforces the bond between a couple. :-4
On the other hand, it can also be enjoyed by a couple who have just met in a bar and fancy a quickie in the car park.

Great read Far, not just a rarity but how many couples would still love each other as much, what with no sex before marriage and being away half the year, most couples would be having affairs. or split up.
Must be a whole lot of love between you. :-4 :-4 Your'e a very special couple.
