Yes, the poor long suffering Mr O.
We are shortly to have a party at the British Legion to celebrate his birthday and official retirement. A miracle he is here to celebrate it really as two years ago, he was found in the advanced stages of cancer and given 9 months. Due to a wonderfull surgeon but a long road to recovery, he is still here.
Very recently, we discovered that the cancer had returned and today, the hospital has decided to operate again with possibley a course of chemo to follow just to be sure. He has been quite un-well for some time but as usual, he never complains and puts all others before himself.
I would like to present him with something at his party for being the most wonderfull supportive husband one could wish for but i am at a loss as to what.
He has more fishing gear than the local tackle shop.
He collects Bristol Blue glass, antique fishing reels and lead crystal paper weights. Over the years I have given him pieces and we now have too many.
Any idea's folks?

Can you write him a letter stating how much you appreciate him and that he is the love of your life? That really comes from the heart.:-4

I'm not shy at telling him. At Christmas, i had a crystal in the shape of a diamond engraved for him which rules out something similar.

I did see something in the paper yesterday that he'd love but it was £2 million :wah: It was a renovated operational Spitfire' areoplane.
I could re-new his Labour Party membership :sneaky::sneaky:

It sounds like anything you could think of would just be telling him what he already knows . It sounds like you show him daily what a wonderfully supportive husband you know him to be . And it probably wouldn't be a bit surprising for him to hear he's the love of you life again because you probably do that in a hundred little ways daily.
Maybe something just to silly to imagine ,like have some guy show up at the party dressed like a fish( you said he collects fishing gear ) with a happy birthday telegram , more for the enjoyment and giggles ,,
I know I'm just being no help at all , but your OP gave me a catch in my throat . The love that you want to show him comes Thur with your words in the OP.
I wonder if both of you were ask the question " Who was the lucky one in the relationship you two share ? i would be willing to bet ya'll would not agree on the answer each gives.

That's it....... Brilliant Idea :wah: He would love it and i know his pals would think it hilarious. I'll check out the yellow pages tomorrow for telegram services.
I was also thinking tonight that you can buy fishing weekends with some of the expert proffessional anglers and he'd love that too.
Yes, It saddens me to read of folk who have had bad marraiges and sad divorces. I have been very lucky. We never argue and laugh alot.
I once wrote a message for him on a white kitchen cupboard door in felt pen. It turned out it was a permanent marker and took a week to get off. :yh_rotfl
My gorgeous husband when he was in the RAF in his younger day's. He had a touch of the Elvis. :-4:-4:-4

Oh, what a handsome man in the pic.
A love poem, write him a beautiful poem from the heart. Wrap it up in memories of your life together, and what he means to you.

As an ex armed sevices man.... how about asking the Royal British legion to give him a salute as he arrives? There will be war vets at the party.
Yes, he was a hunk......still is :-4

Great idea here and what about doing something with that great picture of him? Can it be framed and matted with the poem. Or better yet a picture of the both of you. Maybe BONO will come to the party.
I truly hope his next surgery goes well, I will be praying. :yh_pray

Is there anything he'd like to do? any unachieved ambitions?
Would he like a hot air balloon ride or drive on a skidpan, that sort of thing, I know he's not well (hugs to him) but would he be well enough for a trip or an adventure.

As he is ex RAF and an aviation nut, i was thinking of a flight in something special. Or, he is also a formula 1 fan so maybe something similar?
Not bragging but money is not an issue here. We have cashed in some policies although we did have to give the lovely Gordon Brown 40% tax on them :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Just spoken to my sis and family as we're organizing a coach load to bring the family up from the South Coast.
