Apparently, beginning April 1st 2009, infected computers will start attempting to "call home", (i.e. contact servers in the botnet) in order to receive Conficker updates, which has led to claims that some apocalyptic cyber-event will occur on that date and result in millions of computers being wiped out or large portions of the internet being disabled .....................................

heard about this on the news yesterday and its the 1st April here today and Australia was first to be hit so they reckon....so far my computer seems ok :sneaky:

Maybe a scam by the Anti-virus people to increase sales? Remember the year 2000 thing? Nowt much happened there....

Sore subject - the reason that we didn't all get bitten by the millennium bug is the amount of work being done behind the scenes to rewrite the systems to prevent it.
