How many of us still live close to our place of birth? I sure don't. Enlarge the map below and follow that scratchy white line from Illionois to Maryland to Georgia, where I live now. Long story. And there have been some detours along the way. ;)

:wah:

Ok, I'll do my best!

I was adopted from London, somewhere, though I have an impression that it was within the sound of Bow Bells, which might make me a Cockney. But my birth name had lots of "Mc" and Northern English names which suggests Borders/Scottish. I was raised from a baby by parents born in London and Eire in the County of Rutland, which was absorbed into Leicestershire and after a vicious terrorist campaign (involving signposts) regained its independence. I spent a lot of my childhood and youth in Devon and my Higher Education in Fife and have walked over large parts of Cymru. By complete accident I now live in the Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames.

If you can work out anything from that, please let me know! :yh_rotfl

She doesn't live in Hollywood. ;) Anyway, Hollywood is undergoing serious gentrification at the moment, so it'll be nice again when she retires and moves back. :p

I thought you said this was easy, Along-for-the-ride? The first part is easy... I currently live 4363 miles (7021 kilometres) from the city where I was born. The second part... where else have I lived? ...now that'll take awhile! :wah:

Oy! We didn't want you snooty buggers - 'twas just the government foisted you upon our long suffering heads. We were trying desperately to put the Rutland signs back up as quickly as the council were taking them down.

Oh, so it was you, was it? ;)

The signs always amused me, but it did make sense to join Leics and Rutland from administrative and financial points of view. I was surprised by the strength of feeling against it - and it wasn't just the posh folk, either!

I have a bit. Though I forgot to slip another stop at St. Albans between Sidcup and Luton. My time in Bedford is the longest I've stayed anywhere. I'm looking at two more moves to come yet at least. Possibly three.

I've got to say though that I'm glad to be in West Yorkshire. It's a truly beautiful part of the country.
