You seem a lovely bunch of people !! Thanks again...No I honestly have never been here before ...I never even knew the site existed until a friend ask me to join her her a couple of days ago!! I live in a fishing village called Brixham which is part of Torbay (Paignton,Brixham and Torquay) ..I was burn in the smoke but have lived here for many many years and feel privileged to do so:)

Joannee is my friend she lives in Cornwall and we have met up a couple of times!

Where do i start? :wah: As a child my parents had a chalet bungalow in Brixham they rented out in the holiday season. If you go up that steep hill right to the top road on the cliffs, it's three doors down from Pontin's holiday camp. I'm not sure if it's still there but as kids we would climb over the wall into the camp to use their facilities. The front of the bungalow was all glass and we were not allowed in the garden without supervision because of the cliff drop. Many nights we were woken by the distress flares going up in the bay and mum would make tea and we'd watch the rescue go out. I caught my first fish off Brixham arm..... a 6lb Ballam Wrass and dad and i would go crabbing on the rocks. The fish market was there then and as kids we'd go down at 5 in the morning as the boats were being un-loaded. The trick for a free supper was to follow the seagulls who would swoop and grab a fish as they were un-loading. very often the seagull would bite off more than they could chew and drop it a few yards up the road. We spent lots of time in a little Aquarium and playing pirates on the replica of The Golden Hind in the harbour. I don't know if it's all still there now. There was a fish shop in the harbour and dad would buy a pint of prawns in their shells.... we'd sit on the harbour wall eating them. We had trips into Torquay and Paignton and i spent alot of time in Paignton zoo where 'Elsa' the lioness from the film 'Born Free' was kept. We also went shark fishing in the bay amongst other things.

Hi, Annie. Welcome to FG.

I usd to live in Torquay as a kid in a village called Hele next to Barton. I still remember the address we used to live at (though we never had postcodes then so I don't know what that is:D).

They were my happiest years and I wish we never had to move away from there. Whenever I go to Devon now, I am filled with a strong sense of nostalgia.

i just joined today 00.01 am i will be joining tomorrow at the same time tonight ...but it will be today then and today will be yesterday then oh never mind 9i have ruined a good joke somewhere :-3:-3
