Sounds like you've got the wrong kinds of trees... :p There are plenty of non-invasive trees you could replace them with on the link provided in the thread title. I keep all of the invasive varieties out by themselves and just mow down all of the seedlings that sprout that I don't want.

We have a maple tree and some other big thing...have no idea what it is but it was strong enough to invade my basement with it's roots. the maple is the worst...total seed dropper and do you have btw, $8,000 to help with the cost of cutting the maple down?:wah:

Sugar maple? ...the kind that has the whirligig seeds? You could sell it for hardwood and possibly make a few thousand dollars depending on the condition of the tree (ie. size, straightness...). The other one definitely needs to come down!

My neighbor has an ash tree which used to drop those little thorny balls into the yard...it died so that is one tree that is not my probs. The big tree is in the middle of both properties so we would have to share costs on cutting that mf down.

No not a sycamore...just an ugly tree with a huge black spot inthe middle of it and the branches are falling off it...probs because we killed the roots from it in the basement, idk. It also killed my pear tree out front.

Weird... A pear tree is a nice small tree... kill the other trees and replace 'em with pear trees!

I sometimes forget how much colder it is in Toronto, despite having lived there and having spent so much time there.

Maybe QS would like them?
I planted a few trees today... not because I knew it was Arbor Day... I was planting trees yesterday, too. :p I planted some zelkova, katsura, Japanese pagoda, chestnut, Canadian hemlock, Douglas fir, Ben Franklin trees, blue spruce, Serbian spruce, Kentucky coffee trees, Russian olives, a fig tree, white birch trees, catalpa, paw-paw ("Indiana banana"), mountain ash, honey locusts, and some fruit trees... tomorrow I'll finish planting fruit trees and some nut trees.
I also planted some hardy kiwi vines, chokeberry shrubs (Saskatoon serviceberry), dewberry vines.
