$250 More for the Casino?

My dear wife just received a notice from Social Security, she and the other millions of SS recipients are getting a gift from Uncle Sam, $250 to be specific. The money is part of the economic recovery something or other and I am sure she is grateful for such generosity.

I’m a bit curious though. In April average Americans had their payroll taxes lowered so they would have more money to spend. What’ you didn’t notice? The logic there was that if a lump sum was paid as had been the past practice for giving us back our own money, it would have been saved not spent.

Why then is the logic not the same for seniors? The $250 is not even coming in the regular Social Security check. Could it be that the politicians want to be sure that it is noticed by this large block of voters? Oh, how cynical of me. :yh_rotfl

If there were ever a block of Americans who least needed such stimulus it is retired seniors. Inflation is non-existent, those folks are least likely to have large or new mortgages, they can’t lose their job and they have far lower financial burdens than younger families facing college, retirement savings and the like.

Why then do we insist as a country on spending a disproportionate amount of our resources (I was going to say limited, but apparently in these times that is not the case) on seniors while creating an apparent unlimited debt for our younger citizens to bear? :-3

Did I answer my own question earlier, they vote! Politicians really are despicable people. :(

I agree Quinn. My wife and I will have our $250 each deposited to our checking accounts the end of May and our adult kids have a need for the $$ more than we.
