Today is the Queens birthday everyone gets a day off and every town holds a free market basically anyone can set up a stall in the town centre selling thier junk.
This morning I watched in amusement as the Queen and royal family visited in Apeldoorn, she walked around at the market talking to people and looking at the stalls. The royal family enjoyed some of the street entertainment and even joined in, Prince William Alexander and his wife Maxima took a pedalo boat across the canal.
One of the other princes tried crossing via a rope bridge it was all good fun and everyone was happy.
Then as they returned to the palace in an open topped bus a small black car sped through the security fencing mowing down people who were there to see the Royal family and just missing the royal bus it ploughed into a memorial. Police say there is reason to believe that it was deliberate.
At least 2 people are known to be dead 12 others are injured All festivites thoughout the country are being cancelled.
The Queen has plans to visit the injured and the families of the dead today or tomorrow at the latest.
This is such a shock and takes away yet another bit of the friendly innocence that makes this country so lovely to live in.

This is dreadful. Sympathies to the spectators and their families.
Attacks like this are likely to be counter-productive to the cause of the people conducting them, too (this one could simply be a deranged person).

That is just awful. My sympathy goes out to the family that lost loved ones. I seems there is always some nut job that wants to destroy those in power. The world has gone quite mad it appears.

An update.
There are now known to be 4 dead 6 seriously injured and a number of light injuries.
The 38 yr old man of Dutch origin has been charged with attacking the Royal household and murder of the persons in the public plus causing injury to persons in the public.
He has confirmed that this was a deliberate attack.
At first it was thought he may have become unwell and lost control of his car, now it turns out he had tried to pass safety barriers earlier in the day and had been turned back by police.
All the flags here have been lowered to half mast in sympathy for the victims.

Any clues as to his motive?
Whatever they are, they are sick!
Condolences and sadness.

That is so sickening, such a shock just to watch.
Did anyone notice that man get out of the rear of the culprit vehicle just after it came to a stop? He obviously did a runner as I couldn't see him around when the camera panned back to the vehicle later in the scene.

Oh Victoria, I am so sorry that this happened in your beautiful country. This is so tragic.
Unfortunately, there are soooooo many mentally people or angry people in our world that have slipped through the cracks of our society. This is such a sickening story about a sick person wanting to kill themselves and take lots of other innocent lives with them.
I'm so sorry for everyone involved:(
