The year so far...

Welcome to May folks. The first third of the year has already passed by. In another four months it will be the summer holidays and four months after that it will be Christmas once again! OMG! Where has the time flown to?

So I thought now would be a good time to stop and smell the daisies, review the year and renew our direction through the flowers of life. So tell me . . .

What were the best things that have happened to you so far this year?

What were your biggest challenges?

What did you do for the first time?

What have you learned?

I won't ask you about any regrets as we all have those and they are negative and cannot be changed and I want this to be a positive thread and forward-looking.

What three things do you want to happen to you during the rest of this year?

What can you do to help make those things happen?

Thanks for your replies. :-6

What were the best things that have happened to you so far this year? I found out I am going to be a grandmother!

What were your biggest challenges? Finding another school for next year.

What did you do for the first time? Go to a TKD tournament. (it is today) Wish me luck on breaking the boards in competition before the Korean Consul General. It is a very tricky choreographed sequence, the masters spent a half-hour on two different nights training me, and has a very unconventional beginning. A sure winner-or loser! :wah:

What have you learned? No matter how stressed you get, the problems are always still there.

What three things do you want to happen to you during the rest of this year?

1.Find a new school to work at.

2.Start two new books, one is already, I have some children books I want to start on.

3.Continue with advanced flute lessons this summer.

What can you do to help make those things happen?

Nothing much, but wait until summer for free time, and go with the flow of time until I get a new school. I have interviews starting next week and the calls are coming in now. Flute lessons are my own reward when I find a school, if I can still afford them. The books, they will be fun and is a summer thing to do.

I have learned how to manifest things by meditating, my challenge is to get to my desired weight by manifestating.

I want to be able to start going to the gym so I can feel fitter than I am now, so also need to manifest the broken bone in my foot to heal.

Thats my immediate goal!!!!!!!!:)

Good luck in your TKD tournament. I'm sure you'll do well. You strike me as a very determined person. :-6

So far this year, I have attended two funerals; one for my mother-in-law and the other for a sister-in-law. Just reminders of how precious life is and to make the most of it while we are here on this earth. Life is indeed too short to worry about the "small stuff." Taking the time to appreciate the people in your world, taking the time to smile and laugh with them, taking the time to brighten the day of another person are all so important.

I have been wondering of future times. "How will people remember me?"

Hiya Odie and thanks. :)

Sounds like you're having a very positive year. :)

I loved this...

What have you learned?-------spend the money you have now.....life is to short.

Excellent advice! :yh_rotfl :yh_rotfl

Your last 3 points (what do I want and how to make it happen) are brilliant.

That's something I want to do too.

I show the world a sunny face but have to fight off depression behind closed doors. 40 years of my mothers constant criticisms cause me to struggle with accepting who I am without constantly criticising myself. It's a struggle. But I'm aiming for a more positive and accepting mindset and I was given some positive advice recently which really helped.

Thanks for leaving those comments, they were good. :-6

OMG this makes me depressed

I cant think of anything positive or worthwhile Ive done this year. I have no plans and am on autopilot just drifting from day to day in a haze.

As for the rest of the year I cant even be bothered to think about next week Sorry!

I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to turn this into a thread about depression. :o

Victoria, sometimes just getting from day to day is a positive. And sometimes you just need to drag your unwilling feet through the bad stuff until you can finally wade out the other side. Just getting through it means you're a strong person even though you don't feel you are. :-6 I know you've had a rough time but you're a good person and you WILL survive and pull through. We're all here to help you. :-4

I find I start feeling depressed when I'm not busy, the school holidays are the worst. I have found that I need to be busy to fight it. So now if I start thinking about things which depress me I either come on the puter and have youtube music blasting in my ears via the headphones (like now, not that I'm depressed right now but having loud music doesn't allow bad thoughts to creep up on me) or I'll do something like clean the kitchen with the radio on during the day or my mp3 player blasting in my ears if its at night. I find the loud music plus concentrating on something takes my mind off whatever it was dwelling on. My worst time is at night when I'm lying in bed and can't sleep and depressing thoughts just descend on me like a huge black cloud, so now I get up and DO something (with the music blasting in my ears) until I'm ready to sleep.

Thankyou Odie for your very kind and helpful words. :-4

You are such a sweetheart. :-4 :yh_hugs :-6
