Relax¦go to France

A new study from a French based research firm confirms it; the French do indeed have a laid back view on life. It seems they sleep more than an average 530 minutes a day (that’s more than 8 hours by the way---where do they get the time?), they take longer than anyone to eat, more than two hours a day (twice as much time as Americans – due I suspect to our illustrious drive through “fast food windows) and on top of that they have a mandatory 30 paid leave days a year, in addition to holidays no doubt.
So, if you want to chill you know where to go.
Allow me to digress a moment and return to the drive through (or is it thru?). Americans are in love with staying in their car to get food, pick up a prescription – let’s hope one that does not cause drowsiness – do their banking and who know what else. I think this accommodation needs a good review in light of the greening of America. My extensive personal observation shows that in 80% of the cases it is quicker to park the car, go in the bank or fast food restaurant conduct your business get back into your car and drive away all the while with the car engine off. On the other hand those drivers who apparently cannot figure out how to get out of their car are running the engine while waiting for their turn at the window¦for shame. And there is another benefit to parking and walking, you won’t smash your giant side view mirror on the wall of the drive up window.
Umm, I wonder if the time Americans spend sitting in their car at a drive through can be counted as leisure time and thus give us a shot at the French record? :-2
Where or where are the Howard Johnson restaurants when you need them?
