I hate living in a semi-detached house !!!!!!!

World War III has broken out yet again, next door. Seems to happen more and more often now. Ranting, shouting, screaming, slamming bloody doors. I sit here waiting for a different scream, that might tell me that somebody has been hurt! I wonder what I would do.
Would I call the police? Would I knock on their door and ask if they're OK? We get on OK with them, in a passing sort of way - they're friendly enough with us and we have a laugh occasionally. My hubby mows their front lawn when he does ours. etc. etc. But I wish they wouldn't keep having these off-the-dial rows ! I happen to be at home on my own this evening, but with the dog of course. The boys are out playing snooker, and won't be back till nearly 11 pm. I just bloody wish my neighbours wouldn't keep doing that - it sounds like they're murdering each other!
Can't wait to get out of here! What with them, and yobs, and drunks (who are bloody deaf) staggering home on Fridays and Saturdays. I just want to be left alone with my family, in peace and quiet - not much to ask is it?

I feel for you Gill, I know just how loud some people can be.
With being so friendly with them, why not just talk to them?
They may not even realize you can hear them!

:yh_rotfl :yh_rotfl :yh_rotfl The other week, apparently, Graham - who lives next door but THREE to them, complained about the terrible banging of doors and shouting !!!! He couldn't hear his electric drill for the racket :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl (joking about the drill :sneaky:), they do know they can be heard by their neighbours !! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr It is very tempting to put me African drumming tape on through me guitar amplifier - that would bloody well shut them up, particularly if I did it at midnight !!! :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl trouble is I would have to take the dog and put him in the furthest room in our house, and put ear muffs on him, poor bugger !!!
I can assure you that it is LOUD !!!!! :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

I agree with you, but there's one slight problem ---------- my gear performs SO LOUDLY that the whole street will be affected, not just my next door neighbours ! I reckon that the police would be hot-foot round to my pad, hammering on the door, however, I may not be able to hear them knocking !! :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

A semi-attached house? Is that a side by side? Yes, live in one of them too but you would love my neighbors...they have their squabbles but nothing like yours and yes they cut my lawn since my mower is dead. We get along fab & sit out in thier yard in the summer & have bbq's together. I wouldn't trade them for the world.

I feel for ya. I had, until recently, the noisiest, most inconsiderate people living above me that I have ever had to endure. I swear they were nocturnal freaks. All would be quiet as death until around eleven o'clock at night and then suddenly they'd spring to life and make so much noise I couldn't believe it. Hey, let's move the furniture, honey. Oh darling, I really need you to pound these nails into the wall. But first, let me vacuum the entire house and be sure to bang the vacuum into the walls while I'm at it. And just in case the woman downstairs is asleep, let's scream at the baby at 2 a.m. Gawd almighty! Two years of that! It's a wonder I'm still in my right mind!

And reporting them did nothing I'm sure

. Oh yes, we had peeps like that when we lived in the apartment...total nutcases. We had it a bit worse besides the constant bickering, noise, etc....they stole my hubs checkbook...what a nightmare that was. Finally had to get a P.O. box and then we moved without telling them where we would be living.:-5:wah:

With the tough times will come more arguing.
why can't people just discuss the issue without screaming..?
one screams the other screams louder
when the screaming isn't loud enough - the doors start slamming...!!
then it's -
"To Be Continued"
Sorry G#Gill
they know you can hear them - this is just how they communicate with eachother.
perhaps the screaming is a high to them & they solve the issues..?
Maybe it makes for great Make-Up Sex...?:-2

Head butting while misunderstood as overt aggression is actually an effective tool in communicating your displeasure with them. Its kind of a universal way of saying "hey man...keep it down" without having to mouth the words.
When the police come to arrest you head butt them too.
That is my top shelf advice.

Guess I'm lucky. My apartment is next to a double elevator shaft. It's quiet enough I can't hear it. My door faces a stairwell. Other side of me I have a neighbor who is fairly quiet. My only beef is with people yelling in the hall. While waiting for the elevator, they talk loudly to each other because half the people here are near deaf, can't see well or both.

In certain parts of the house we can hear right through the wall..not necessarily hearing them chat, but arguments yes! Their shower wall is next to mine, so of course, I can hear them taking a shower & flushing the loo:wah:...and the living room was at one time a portal where we could here everything. We both of us neighbors put our tv's up against the sharing wall...can't hear anything.:wah:

Pick your wars carefully is an understatement. Yes....you must pick your wars but make sure you've got the upper hand on them. Been there, done it. Get as much infor on them before you knock on that door. Police reports, etc. Make sure somebody besides your OH is on your side.
