Remy's swim vest

My little dog Remy is brain damaged and last week I saw that the reason he does not swim is because once his back feet cant touch bottom he simply tucks them up and doesnt use them. So he sinks!
Someone suggested a swimvest like a life jacket which would give him extra lift until I can teach him to use his back legs.
I was explaining to OH last night.. 'its like a life jacket'.
'what in case he falls in'?
'No to help him swim'
'How'?
'Well like water wings on a kid it helps keep them afloat so they can practise'
Silence followed while OH thought about this...then he says...
'How will that work? I mean he will tip upside down and only his legs will stick up and he will drown'
Duh Im tempted to drown OH :yh_rotfl

Ditto to Nomad. Remey is so lucky to have such a kind owner with so much time and patience for him.
My three dogs love to swim in our local river so i know the enjoyment they get from it.

Remy is lovely Im the lucky one
. I found the jacket collecting it saturday I so hope this works..I think it will help his coordination and build some more muscle.
Now I need to borrow some waders so I can go in with him

Do you have a fishing tackle shop near you? I have some for swim clearing at the river that come up to the tops of my legs. You can get some cheap one's on e bay as well. Look up angling waders. And of course, take some pics for us so we can all see Remy enjoying his swim.

I was thinking if he does turn upside down you could attach little sand bags to his feet to bob him around again.
And I wouldnt put him in the river like Oscar suggested. If the current takes him downstream youll never catch up. Someone will find a little brain damaged dog with a life vest and sandbags attached to him and the whole community will turn against you and call you horrible names.
