Im not an 80s fan at all. I thought the entire decade was a farce and lacking any passion or originality. Musically I could just puke, Im sure some good music came out in 10 years but I cant think of one single stand out band or musician that appealed to me. Politically there were some interesting things that happened but quite frankly I think Reagan had full blown Alzheimers by his 2nd year in office. Im not trying to be a jerk but to me the 80's was crap.

I would die happy if i could have lived through the decade of the twenties and been in my prime. I love everything about the twenties.

I cant say the eighties did much for me either. As a whole I'm not a great fan of much of the music, although there were exceptions. It tended to be a little flat and two dimentional. As for the fashion... well...looking back at the photographs, I looked less of a berk in the 70's

What ever happened to Big Country ? In the 80's Big Country supported the Stranglers so i got to see them a fair bit. I even bought their records. They did a brilliant set as back up at the Reading Rock Festival one year.
Please don't bring back the 80's. I couldn't bear any of them,
Duran Duran
Spandex Ballet
Adam Ant
Depeche Mode
Soft Cell
etc etc
Awful..... With the exception of Echo and The Bunnymen, they should all have been rounded up, put in a field and shot.

In the mid 80's I was living in Germany late teens enjoying everything German girls had to offer.
Besides the really BAD hair it wasn't all that bad. Seeing the Scorpions and Nena perform in native tongue was cool. Which brings me back to German girls..........

Scorpions, yeah they were good.
And Dokken, they were German werent they ?
There were a few good rock bands about in the eighties providing you turned a blind eye to all that ridiculous coiffured hair. Bowie could get away with wearing make-up. Everybody else just looked ludicrous. How could you ever take Steve Strange seriously ? and the less said about that bloke from Flock of Seagulls' hairstyle, the better

I think the trouble with the eighties, is were having such a great time with rock and roll, then glam rock then the punk era, then it all went pear shaped with the New Romantics and the preening vanity that went with it

I was alot younger then and quite fancied Ian McCulloch. Morrissey was not my style although the album 'Meat is murder' was quite good. I'm a huge fan of The Verve and can see the similarities between them and Echo and the Bunnymen.

YouTube - The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony Thanks Ducks.... I have this track and on surround sound, it is just the bizz isn't it. Pete says it's music to commit suicide by but i love it. I want this as one of my funeral songs. :-4
I saw the Verve at Glastonbury last year and they were fantastic. Richard Ashcroft knelt down and said into the mike 'You got to go to a job you hate, work for a boss you hate, your a slave to money'. You couldn't hear the rest for the roar that went up from the crowd..... they were absolutely brilliant :-4:-4

El whopper hides in the airing cupboard, Jimbo hides in the dogs room, the gasman hides in the loft and the electric man hides in a wardrobe.
