As hygienic as we Americans like to think we are, we are in the stone age compared to many European countries where bidets are not uncommon. Bidets should be mandatory in all new home and apartment construction. Just think of the savings in toilet paper and the reduction in soiled under clothing and linens. They are also great for washing dirty feet and some Europeans have found them to be excellent for bathing infants.:)

My hubs installs these in otherpeeps homes except ours:-5...try living with 4 kids on a 6pk of tp:-5. Hey, it would be great though if they used them here...earth friendly, etc. As for bathing infants...kitchen sink was always a way better option.:wah:

Well, its certainly good form when visiting friends. I read that in an etiquette book along with when and when not to guff in company. It depends on the material one is seated on that absorbs any impact, apparantly

I do tend to not wash my bum in my friends sink because you never know what they have had in that water. I do enjoy guffing in public and glaring disgustingly at the person next to me.

What "soiled under clothing and linens"? From people not wiping their bottoms properly? God, how revolting!

As for bidets, nasty foreign things, nothing like using a good old handful of leaves and then throwing them out of the window..

Properly for some people means using some water to get rid of fecal residue than cannot be removed with paper, leaves, sandpaper or corn cob.:wah:

In some countries I have been to in the tropics, a jug of water is kept next to the karzi.

Corn cob??? Pah! "Wire brush and Dettol"!

We use baby wet wipes as well as loo roll. You can buy Andrex wet wipes for the loo but they're tiny little chemically saturated squares that are way too small and don't do the job properly. Ahem. :o Also if, after a heavy night on the booze and curries, you have a butt that resembles the Japanese flag, the chemical wipes just add insult to injury! (Or so I'm told! :o :o :wah: ) Baby wet wipes are gentle on adults butts as well as babies butts and they're much larger than the teensy chemical squares (and much cheaper) and they're much easier to flush than half a roll of Andrex paper. :wah: :wah:
