Well the first reports are in and it looks as if Geert Wilders freedom party the P.V.V which is pretty much the Dutch equivilent of the BNP has made big progress in the European election.
Is it just a sign of people thinking jobs for our own in these hard pressed times or is there a more sinister movement growing within Europe?

Right wing parties never really go away they just wax and wane in popularity. Hitler was a hard lesson on what happens if they actually get power but they have never really gone away. A lot of people want war over race, over religion whatever. I've heard people blaming the EU for things like the the smoking ban think it's a mistake to assume people are capable of joined up thinking-especially daily mail readers.

I think its an inevitable consequence of having more or less unthought-out and and uncontrolled Islamic immigration into Western Europe for the last 20-30 years. Its dreadful that the political class have been so blinkered that they have allowed a situation to developed that to my mind almost certainly means there is going to be a very strong swing to the far right across several European countries, with outcomes that are quite hard to predict, and its no surprise that the two that are most likely to start returning far-right MEPs and MPs are the two which have very significant levels of muslims now living in them, i.e. the UK and Holland.
The problems around social disintegration because of this idiotic concept of multiculturalism, and uncontrolled Asian and African immigration into European nation states are going to get worse, as the money and the follies of the good times end, and the reaction will also correspondingly continue to get worse.
As a wise man once said, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions", never has that saying been truer than it is today.

And not just in Europe. Multiculturalism in Australia means that we will all soon need to learn Chinese and in some areas Aussie women probably should veil themselves in order not to attract unwanted attention. Sigh. Personally I don't care where people come from originally, but I'd like to think firstly they realise their good fortune in being here in Australia, want to become part of Australian society, respect Australian laws, leave their political brawls back in the old country, tolerate religions other than their own and at least make some attempt to learn English. That doesn't seem an unreasonable ask.
