That had me flummoxed - I thought it was in response to me playing Keith Emerson, and I wondered why this excluded me from enjoying Jeff Beck...

You'll have to excuse me, Ma'am, my mind seems to have lost focus this afternoon.

For the record, Jeff Beck is high on my playlist too. I'll look up Gren Beck and report back.

Well of course you know I havn't heard of The Nice :) but I'll look it up too, maybe find a site with some songs.

Glen Beck has a talk radio show on XM. I really don't know much about him but he has some interesting callers sometimes.
I probably posted that in an ambien trance-soryy

normally I would be listening to Bruce Dickenson "Chemical Wedding" but for some strange reason I've been listening to Dream Theatre "Pull Me Under". I have no idea why....but hey, we all have those music quirks now and again.

Well I've got my iPod working and I'm currently listening to G4...before that I was listening to Andrea Bocelli. Tomorrow i'll load more stuff now that I've got the hang of it..... haven't got any Pink floyd Arnold, but a dose of Queen might be a change from the 'high brow' stuff. I think I'll add some mellow songs from Enya and Clannard....any more suggestions ??

One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer

soundclip

by John Lee Hooker

recording of 1977

from George Thorogood & The Destroyers (Rounder CD-3013) & Live (EMI E 2-46329) & The Baddest Of George Thorogood And The Destroyers (EMI E2-97718 or Capitol 97718), copyright notice

Wanna tell you a story,

about the house-man blues

I come home one Friday,

had to tell the landlady I'd-a lost my job

She said that don't confront me,

long as I get my money next Friday

Now next Friday come I didn't get the rent,

and out the door I went

So I goes to the landlady,

I said, "You let me slide?"

I'll have the rent for you in a month.

next I don't know

So said let me slide it on you know people,

I notice when I come home in the evening

She ain't got nothing nice to say to me,

but for five year she was so nice

Loh' she was lovy-dovy,

I come home one particular evening

The landlady said, "You got the rent money yet?",

I said, "No, can't find no job"

Therefore I ain't got no money to pay the rent

She said "I don't believe you're tryin' to find no job"

Said "I seen you today you was standin' on a corner,

leaning up against a post"

I said "But I'm tired, I've been walkin' all day"

She said "That don't confront me,

long as I get my money next Friday"

Now next Friday come I didn't have the rent,

and out the door I went

So I go down the streets,

down to my good friend's house

I said "Look man I'm outdoors you know,

can I stay with you maybe a couple days?"

He said "Let me go and ask my wife"

He come out of the house,

I could see it in his face

I know that was no

He said "I don't know man, ah she kinda funny, you know"

I said "I know, everybody funny, now you funny too"

So I go back home

I tell the landlady I got a job, I'm gonna pay the rent

She said "Yeah?" I said "Oh yeah"

And then she was so nice,

loh' she was lovy-dovy

So I go in my room, pack up my things and I go,

I slip on out the back door and down the streets I go

She a-howlin' about the front rent, she'll be lucky to get any back rent,

she ain't gonna get none of it

So I stop in the local bar you know people,

I go to the bar, I ring my coat, I call the bartender

Said "Look man, come down here", he got down there

So what you want?

One bourbon, one scotch, one beer

Well I ain't seen my baby since I don't know when,

I've been drinking bourbon, whiskey, scotch and gin

Gonna get high man I'm gonna get loose,

need me a triple shot of that juice

Gonna get drunk don't you have no fear

I want one bourbon, one scotch and one beer

One bourbon, one scotch, one beer

But I'm sitting now at the bar,

I'm getting drunk, I'm feelin' mellow

I'm drinkin' bourbon, I'm drinkin' scotch, I'm drinkin' beer

Looked down the bar, here come the bartender

I said "Look man, come down here"

So what you want?

One bourbon, one scotch, one beer

No I ain't seen my baby since the night before last,

gotta get a drink man I'm gonna get gassed

Gonna get high man I ain't had enough,

need me a triple shot of that stuff

Gonna get drunk won't you listen right here,

I want one bourbon, one shot and one beer

One bourbon, one scotch, one beer

Now by this time I'm plenty high,

you know when your mouth a-getting dry you're plenty high

Looked down the bar I say to my bartender

I said "Look man, come down here", he got down there

So what you want this time?

I said "Look man, a-what time is it?"

He said "The clock on the wall say three o'clock

Last call for alcohol, so what you need?"

One bourbon, one scotch, one beer

No I ain't seen my baby since a nigh' and a week,

gotta get drunk man till I can't even speak

Gonna get high man listen to me,

one drink ain't enough Jack you better make it three

I wanna get drunk I'm gonna make it real clear,

I want one bourbon, one scotch and one beer

One bourbon, one scotch, one beer

I'm listening to Billy Fury (Greatest hits). Anyone remember him ?

I guess he was the UKs answer to Elvis, but he died young at 43 (1983) from a heart attack caused by rheumatic fever as a child.

SnoozeControl wrote: NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - The ever-popular earbuds used with many iPods and other MP3 players may be more stylish than the bigger and bulkier earmuff-type headphones, but they may also be more damaging to one's hearing, according to a Northwestern professor.

The earbuds commonly used by iPod listeners are placed directly into the ear and can boost the audio signal by as many as nine decibels -- comparable to the difference in sound intensity between an alarm clock and a lawn mower, Garstecki said. Yet, the earbuds do not always fit snugly in the ear, but often allow background noise to seep in, which causes listeners to crank up the volume.

In turning up the volume to drown out background noise, however, people "don't realize they may be causing some damage" to their hearing, Garstecki said.

This danger is not confined to MP3 users, such as iPod owners. Earbuds are also used with compact disc players and Walkmans. Audiologists have cautioned about the potential risk of hearing loss associated with such devices since the 1980s. The longer battery life and the greater music storage capacity of MP3 players, in comparison to Walkmans and compact discs, however, encourage longer periods of uninterrupted music listening.

Tomorrow I'm off to find some 'user friendly' earphones. The ones (as described above) that were supplied with the iPod are bloomin' uncomfortable !! ...and they keep falling out.....not to mention the ear wax...we won't go there !!

I thought of you when I posted that article.

Aww...thanks Snoozy.....I am soooo pleased with my iPod, although it has cost me a new 'puty' (ok .... I was going to get a new one anyway) and new earphones (tomorrow). I count my self as quite computer literate (for my age) and I was dreading the music downloading, but I must say it is really easy to transfer the music on to the iPod. Beats the old walkman and before that the portable tape player.....one draw back...i keep bursting into song and getting funny looks...who gives a s***f...not me.

I'm now listening to ....Billy Holiday...'that old devil called love'...
