Welcome to my nightmare...

For those of you who don't know me, I live at the beach in a nice little town. Unfortunately, I live next to a honky-tonk town that has a lot of bars and clubs that cater to tourists.

It's 2:30 A.M. here and someone is knocking at my back window. I looked out a window and saw that it was a young man swaying and tapping to his heart's content....apparently very drunk with no shoes on.

What happens here is young adults come down the shore, get drunk and sleep at their friend's relative's home after the bars close which is 2 A.M.

The neighbor next door was yelling at him to stop banging at my door and stood outside watching him. He probably thought he was my relative.

I called the police and within 2 minutes, 3 cop cars pulled up and surrounded my home. Sure enough it was a college kid partying and thought this was his friend's aunt's home.

This also happened to me 2 summers ago except this fella was banging on my window with my outside umbrella and in his underwear:(

A few weeks ago, I was sitting out on my patio about 1 AM watching for comets and this fella comes walking through my yard. I was so stunned and flashed a light on him. He was the friend of the renters next door, drunk as a skunk and came up to introduce himself to me. He then climbed into the back window of the renter's home.

Sure enough this fella who was here tonight probably meant to knock next door. Luckily I always lock all my windows and doors.

Anyway, my heart is still pounding. I'm so glad that the police come so quickly and will speak with my neighbor tomorrow to see if this was his son's friend.

Well, I guess the summer fun is here early:mad: It's after 3 A.M. now, and I'm wide awake:rolleyes: Anyone want to play scrabble:thinking:

:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl You crack me up Pam:-6

Please keep your "Thelma and Louise avy...." I love it:p

I feel safe now with you patroling my area. That's one of my favorite movies. I've also watched "Kill Bill" finally. Knew if you liked it then I would. Great, great movie....need to watch it again.

I have so many things to do tomorrow and I can't sleep now and it's after 4 A.M.:-5 My heart is still pounding a bit. I thought I heard noises outside my back door during the night, but when I looked there was no one there. I just thought it was the neighbors behind me being loud:(

(((((((( Kathy )))))))))) - Arnie took that pic!!

But I know how you feel. Believe me. Someone got in my window at about 4am one night when I first moved to Canberra. I woke from a deep sleep to find him standing over me. I was maybe 19 at the time. I was totally petrified. Have never forgotten that paralysing terror.

Kill Bill is a fantastic 2-dvd movie. Violent yes, but kind of tongue in cheek too, and playing with many film genres. A true classic.

I feel for you comes with Summer at the beach happens here as well. Many beach residents here leave and lock down their house for the season just to crowded sometimes dangerous. :-6:-6 You need a dog they won't come near your house then.

Thanks everyone for replying. I was just happy to realize that this fella was just drunk and looking for his friend. I've never had my home robbed or tampered with thank goodness;) Cops took him away in the squad car to sober him up, and I didn't press any charges.

For the most part, the tourists who come here are well-behaved people. We just get the odd ones sometimes who act nasty and disgusting.

I'm just sooooo happy to have a good police force here. We even have the police ride around town on bikes when the town gets crowded.

Dog is a good idea. I love animals but don't want that responsibility of taking care of an animal to be truthful. I'll need to get an alarm system in my home:thinking::thinking:...another item for my "to do" list.

Good Lord girlie I am glad you are ok, pissed that you have to endure this more than once and willing to join Pam and come patrol your area. Ok barring that, may I suggest and electric fence. They don't hurt all that bad when touched (or so I am told) hehehehe

Kathy - It was my second night in a ground floor room in a residential hostel. Apparently the girl who'd had the room before I moved in had been thrown out for running a business from there, but hadn't managed to let her clients know. The bloke was probably pretty shocked to find the wrong girl, but then he hadn't been in a deep sleep. He scarpered. The manager thought it was quite funny. My Dad didn't. He drove up from Sydney next morning with a hammer and nails and fixed my window, so it couldn't be opened more than a couple of inches. He fixed the manager too. Onya Dad!! You always rocked!!!

Minks - Atta girl ! We'll massacree those clueless losers. Hammer them into oblivion then maybe nail their sorry asses to the electric fence....

And Kathy - let's get Arnie too. What I'm fondly cradling in the Thelma and Louise av is just one item of his very fine collection.

I'm on my way Kathy !!!

Public holiday here today and I'm going to have a wander. Sunny and cool. And last night there was a full moon. Today I'm going to explore Haberfield, an area of Sydney I haven't been to - and mostly Italian.

As a quick fix you might get some of those adhesive & plastic things that you can install on your doors & windows yourself. When the door or window is opened it lets out this piercing screech. You can disarm them and then set them at night. I lived alone in Nevada and didn't want to go to the expense of a security system. I bought these at Walmart and it made me feel better to be in the house alone. I also slept with an aluminum baseball bat under my bed.

Oh Zapada,

Thank you. I will look into those plastic thingies soon...never heard of them.

With my luck, the intruder would grab the bat out of my hand and hit me in the head:thinking: Those alarms are expensive to install...:(

I'd never heard of them either, Kathy, but I lived across the street from a real wierdo & I had to do something fast. Look in the smoke alarms, security lights, etc. section. They're not expensive at all. They sure let out a screech. You can set it so it sounds like a chime or the screech or turn it off. Oh, and I slept with a hammer under my pillow too. That, with the cell phone, house phone . . .maybe I should have just gotten married.

Ive used those plastic self adhesive alarms too. They stick to almost anything works by two magnets making a connection when the connection is broken they scream.

The dogs learned to leave the bin alone in about two hours, took OH the whole weekend but hey!:yh_rotfl
