Do you find intelligent women or men attractive in a dating sence even if they are visually offensive to you?

Yes intelligence is an attribute that I find attractive, along with a sense of humour. I've had a thing for such women in the past, although not really my type physically.

Its strange what makes women attractive to men. Its not always stunning good looks. I have, many times, sat opposite a woman on the train who might be described as a "plain Jane" but who I found immensly attracted too. I have also seen,supposedly stunningly attractive women, who left me cold.

Like Jordan aka Katie Price. She leaves me cold....Ugh ! Does absolutely nothing for me at all

There has to be a happy medium. I don't want to date a babbling idiot but I don't want a woman who is so smart she seems to be smirking at me. I hate smirkers. One smirk and I'm outa there. If you go out with me, NO SMIRKING.

Not on its own - there's so much more that goes into the personality.

There needs to be a balance between the physical, the mental and the emotional and I'm not convinced that any two of them can overcome a total lack of the third, if you find the physical totally revolting then I think any relationship is doomed but the same applies to the other two legs of the tripod.

Intelligence is nice but not when it becomes intellectual snobbery, thats a huge turn off.

Im married so not dating, but I think even the plainest person can light up when in a good conversation and even the prettiest can look like a stuffed sock when they show no spark at all.

I wouldnt say Id date quasimodo but generally speaking personality and intelligence win out over looks for me.

i agree 100%

i can talk to a real stunner and if she is up herself that leaves me cold but i can talk to a plain jane and can be mesmerized by your humour and kindness

i mean i would be if i was not totally in love with the most beautiful funny and kind suzy :-3:-3:sneaky:

I agree somewhat except the tripod thing. Three legged women don't do it for me, come to think of it cyclops are out of the picture also.:yh_rotfl

What about three legged men, though? I've heard that some women find that tripod thing rather attractive on men... but I dunno'. :wah:

I know what youre getting at so Im not going to scold you but for me personally the words visually offensive are unattractive. When I see someone that may have difficulties because of visual appearances it breaks my heart to imagine what cruelties they may have suffered.

But visual beauty is in the eye of the beholder surely? What's attractive to one may be visually offensive to another.

Clearly those two will be visually offensive to many, Ygzi will be along in a sec to declare his disgust.

Yes sure but the point is and Im speaking strictly for myself I dont generally find people visually offensive.

Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder.

An example is below. Remember the TV show, "The Beverly Hillbillies"? This actress was very intelligent and considered by some to be "homely." But if you read the article from Wikipedia about her, she did not lack for male companionship during her single days.

Intelligence is really important to me. A person can be ok looking, but if they're smart (of course they must also get along with me) they are much more attractive. If I see someone who initially looks attractive and they open their mouth to reveal they're not intelligent, I would lose attraction for them.
