Everywhere, nothing but Michael Jackson this, Michael Jackson that, Michael Jackson music or videos. I'm so sick of that freaky SOB. And, evidently I'm not alone. Found this on another board.

This is disgusting action, IMHO,. He contributed nothing to the good of our country except increasing pleasure and that was his job. I wonder if this democrat holds a moment of silence each day for our veterans both past and present or for the MIA's and KIA's

WASHINGTON - US lawmakers took a brief break on Friday from fierce debate on a climate change bill to pay tribute to Michael Jackson, praising the deceased 'King of Pop' as a singing and dancing inspiration.

'We rise to pay tribute to a star that went high into the sky,' Democratic Representative Diane Watson of California said at the center of a small cluster of colleagues on the floor of the House of Representatives.

'A young man has left Earth, but now resides in the stars. And this was a talented, multitalented person who entertained the world with his dynamic portrayals, his songs that he had written, his style of dancing,' she said.

Ms Watson said lawmakers were sending 'our condolences, our heartfelt sorrow to his family, his friends, and to his millions of fans throughout the world.'

Democratic Representative Jesse Jackson, Jr, said that God 'distributes grace and mercy and talent to all his children' and had especially blessed Jackson, who succumbed to apparent cardiac arrest on Thursday.

'With that gift, that young man, Michael K Jackson would touch and change the world. His heart couldn't get any bigger. And yesterday, it arrested,' he said.

'I come to the floor today on behalf of a generation to thank God for letting all of us live in his generation and his era. with that, we ask members to please stand for a moment of silence,' he said.

While the din in the House chamber subsided somewhat, many members continued to talk among themselves, and debate on a historic bill to fight climate change quickly resumed.

Democratic Representative Barbara Lee, the chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus, said in a statement that Jackson 'was an icon who inspired generations around the world through song and dance.'

'His contributions to American music are innumerable and the genius of his talent will endure for years to come. Our thoughts and prayers are with Michael's family as we mourn and remember this incredible human being who touched the lives of millions,' she said. -- AFP

Had to go clear to the South end of town to find a bar full of grownups with Hank Williams on the juke. WTF?

No, of course that's true. Just look at Princes Di, she still makes news headlines even though she died 12 years ago!

No, I meant the immediate shock and drama of his sudden death. People will be discussing him in the media from now until his funeral which everyone in Hollywood will attend. But after his funeral all this talk will die down and other more recent media stories will take precedence and FG will go back to discussing food, flowers and fluff (apart from our Pammie who will report on ski trips and which vintage of champers she's currently quaffing!) ;) :wah:

Well today i read that he will not be buried. No, it was in The Daily Mail so it is true. That nutjob, Dr Von geezer who has preserved bodies for exhibitions and did the live autopsy's on tv apparently did a deal with MJ that he would preserve his body and display it. They have since spoken to him and he says it was one of MJ's last wishes and he will exhibit the body in the moonwalk pose. Another report says that MJ did a deal to have his body frozen in Cryonic Suspension. Another report says that his last wishes were that he was to be buried alongside Marylin Monroe. If there is a funeral, they are estimating 1 million people will line the streets.

Only 1 million? I would have thought more.

I seriously wouldn't be surprised if he had his body frozen in Cryonic Suspension. Not that I'd want to go and see it. Ew. Wouldn't it just look like a Madame Tussauds dummy? That's both freaky and bizarre. :-3

that indeed is a fantastic point

dispite what people may think i did not wish mj dead ,i wish he had just not got away with his crimes against children

farrah the golden angel has somehow been forgotten in all of this

strange people talk about an evil monster like hitler more than they do someone like mother theresa  i do it to

but the thing is if you forget about hitler you forget about his victims ... the same with jacko in my book ...some guys can remember his music and turn a blind eye to his sick crimes but some people still think of the children he harmed

i am still thinking of farrah and my cousin sam who's birthday it was today :-6:-6

oh I know you never wished him dead.........and I also think he did get away with crimes........

Hitler and his crimes.......I will never forget what he did!:-5:-5

I feel more for our beautiful Farrah as she had such a rough life and suffered to the end.

like I said, MJ, he hasn't been around in 15 years, so whats the big fuss now, days later?

you wait and see, soon on my streets they will be selling t-shirts of him.

I had no idea Sam was your cousin, god bless him.....one day when you feel like it , please tell me what happened to him.

This may have been addressed elsewhere. I haven't been following this word-for-word so I don't know but I read that Obama sent condolences to the family. I haven't heard that he did the same for Farah Fawcett's family or Ed McMahon's family and I wondered how important one has to be to get presidential sympathy? Say, if Elvis and Shelly (sp) Winters had died during the same week as MJ, would the 2 singers have gotten recognition but not the actress who was less famous and not a singer? Or if it had been Frankie Avalon, FF and MJ? I just wonder where one has to be on the 'fame scale' to rate a note of sympathy from the president?

I agree..... the British Prime Minister and fellow members of the Cabinet made statements of sympathy for MJ but nothing for Farrah that i saw. The only reason i can think for this was that MJ was so big in britain especially with him about to perform in London. I highly rate Farrah as an actress but Britain has seen very little of her since the 80's. Maybe that was why?

That's true, Oscar. I just wondered HOW big one had to be to get worldwide sympathy and moaning and anguish. I felt a great deal of sympathy when Princess Di died and got up at 3 a.m. to watch the funeral and felt sadness for the world's loss because I thought she was doing good for humanity. I doubt that I would do that for MJ's funeral. I guess it's all in where your priorities lie.
