The blasted thing nearly went out the window yesterday.



There's me on my way to a lesson with a new pupil who lives somewhere I've never been before.



So I've put her postcode in the sat nav, got plenty of time and am happily pootling along then there is a new section of road that the sat nav doesn't have on it's system.



It looks like I'm driving on fresh air but I was optimistic that the sat nav would work out where I was so I kept going.



Hooray, it found where we were. The nice man's voice told me to 'Turn left then left again' so I did, it was a sharp turn and before I realised I was going up the slip road onto the blasted M5!!!



'Oh no, *********g sat nav!' says I, immediately realising that I would have to drive 10 pigging miles before I could come off the motorway to rejoin it and then drive 10 pigging miles back!!!



Good job no-one was in the car with me - the air was blue. It's amazing how many ways there are to swear and curse at an inanimate object!



The only thing that saved my sat nav's life yesterday was the hands free phone connection which meant that I could phone my pupil to warn her that her driving lesson would be late starting................. :-5:-5:yh_rotfl

Thats happened to me. When we had a critical artery bridge collapse I had to find alternate routes on my own. It was a mess, anyway I contacted them and they applied detours to the system.

Very helpful crew.

Radio Netherlands mentioned a story last night about a driver who was guided by a GPS unit to enter a highway via the exit.

Nobody was hurt in the ensuing accident, but the damage was estimated at €45,000.

Oh heck! It seems I was lucky then!



We did meet a car towing a caravan down a country lane near us one summer. The poor driver was white - his sat nav had sent him on a short cut (!!) to a local holiday park. When you normally drive in urban settings Devon lanes are not recommended for towing caravans down :wah:
