Reading the thread about Briticisms made me wonder about some of the Southern Sayings out there. There are a few flying here in my area, but not like way down South.
A couple that come to mind are "Its thick as pea soup" meaning foggy out. Or, "cat got your toungue?", meaning someone is speechless.
Mind you, some of these are not the most intelligent sounding words you'll hear, but some are pretty cute.
Anyone have any others?

my Mom was from North Carolina, a true southern belle...she said many cliches that escape me at the moment, but one was "pretty is as pretty does". i am sure others will come to me!

I absolutely love this one and use it myself whenever I get the chance, hmm... naughty me.
(saw it on an American crimes and trials show....said by some renowned southern Attorney)
" That sounds like ten pounds of hogwash in a five pound bag! "

Not truly Southern but close: "Ain't got a pot to **** in nor a window to
throw it out of"!

God willing and the creek don't rise.
Bless your heart. (which covers about everything from "I'm feeling bad for you" to "you're pretty stupid, aint'cha?")
All directions are given using the word "yonder"...and only Southerners seem to understand where yonder is, exactly.
Southern sayings are catchy, I've noticed. My in-person conversation is literally imbedded with them and then I notice people repeating these phrases later on. Kinda cool.

oh yea, thats one which reminds me of "you don't have a dog in this race",meaning a third party is getting involved in an arguement your having with someone else.
All these are great!!!
